Announcing - Alta Labs AP7 Pro is now released!
Alta Labs sent us some brand new AP7 Pro's to install early at Ronald McDonald House Philadelphia as part of our initiative.
These replaced some rather dated Fortinet APs that were no longer adequately supporting the environment with the number of families that rely on great coverage while they're staying at the house.
Simply put - it was time for an upgrade.
Sean staged and configured all the devices well ahead of time. This gave us the opportunity to get all the devices on current firmware and burn them in before deployment.
This step is critical for a number of reasons:
It allows all devices to get needed programming and updates.
It allows us to test that the devices are in working condition.
We can document & label all before we step foot onsite so it speeds up onsite time.
We get to test all the capabilities in a lab and work out any bugs before implementation.
Now for the fun part! Install day! Brian met us onsite and jumped right in helping us pull out the old and replace with the new. The new AP7 Pros are slightly larger than the previous model, so new mounting plates were made out of metal to help support the weight as well as assist in installation. This is a significant improvement over the previous mounting hardware.
Since a proper survey was conducted beforehand on site by our resident Ekahau expert Rob Whiteside - we were able to tune the AP's for best configurations and allow for that beautiful 6Ghz upgrade. Wifi 7 has significant performance benefits as well as enhanced security.
This upgrade will allow Ronald McDonald House Philadelphia families excellent performance and coverage so they can continue to keep in touch with their loved ones, doctors, and gives them more reliability to work from the house while they're away from home.
I am honored to be able to have been a part of Alta Labs early testing and humbled that the Alta team is stepping up in huge ways supporting our hashtag
initiative again.
Special thanks to Chase Harrison, Jeff Hansen & Landen Reynolds for making this happen!
