Shawn Hyland was back in Trenton yesterday testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee on New Jersey’s effort to require age verification for online po*******hy.
We strongly support the intent of this bill. Protecting minors online is essential. But the Senate version falls short of the protections already enacted and upheld in other states.
The Assembly bill sponsored by Jay Webber provides that stronger framework. It includes clearer standards, better enforcement mechanisms, and real accountability for platforms that refuse to comply.
Purveyors of online po*******hy lobby against age verification because they seek to get minors addicted to po*******hy. If minors get addicted they have customers for life.
