Prevention requires more than hindsight.

The future of safety is being shaped by people who are willing to look upstream: at workforce development, leadership, communication, training, technology, and the everyday pressures workers carry onto the job.

That is where Catamount is spending time.

Our team is connected with national safety organizations, industry leaders, trade groups, and workforce partners who are serious about moving the conversation forward. These relationships matter because prevention does not happen in isolation. It grows through shared ideas, field experience, hard questions, and practical solutions that can actually work in high-demand environments.

For Catamount, safety has always been about people first.

That means understanding the work, the worker, the crew, and the culture around them. It means helping companies think ahead instead of waiting for problems to prove themselves the hard way.

The work is changing. The workforce is changing. The best safety partners are paying attention.

That's The Catamount Difference.

The skilled trades do not have an opportunity problem. They have a perception problem.

Mike Rowe has been saying this for years: there is meaningful, well-paid, necessary work available across the trades, yet too many students are still being told there is only one “right” path after high school.

At Catamount, we see the trades as a place where discipline, problem-solving, grit, and craftsmanship still matter.

That is why workforce development has to include better conversations with students, parents, counselors, schools, and industry leaders. Young people need to see the real opportunity in front of them.

The future workforce is already out there. We have to help them recognize the path.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

From all of us at Catamount, thank you to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Safety is moving forward, and Catamount is moving with it.

Compliance still matters. It always will. But prevention requires more than meeting the minimum.

Catamount is actively involved in the conversations shaping the future of safety, workforce development, and leadership in high-demand industries. Our team works alongside national safety groups, industry leaders, trade organizations, and workforce partners who are invested in building something better.

We are looking at the full picture: how people lead, communicate, train, use technology, manage fatigue, build trust, and respond under pressure.

That perspective changes the work.

It helps companies move beyond reaction and toward real prevention. It helps leaders see safety as part of culture, performance, and long-term workforce health.

This is where Catamount is focused: practical safety work, stronger partnerships, and a people-first approach built for where the industry is headed.

That’s The Catamount Difference.

We don’t have a talent problem. We have a perception problem.
Mike Rowe has been saying it for years.

Through his work with the mikeroweWORKS Foundation, the focus has been clear: we need to reconnect people with the value of skilled work and challenge the stigmas that keep them from pursuing it.

Right now, millions of good-paying, essential jobs are sitting open—not because the opportunities aren’t there, but because too many people have been told there’s only one “right” path.

We’ve pushed a four-year degree as the default.

We’ve undervalued the work that actually keeps things running, and we’ve lost sight of what matters.

Rowe’s message is simple: Work smart AND hard.

That mindset already exists in athletes. It exists in people willing to show up, learn a skill, and take pride in what they do.

Monday Safety Tip: Watch the handoff.

A lot of safety issues begin in the space between one task and the next.

It may be a rushed conversation, a missing detail, a change in conditions that never gets passed along, or a new worker who assumes someone else already checked.

Those small gaps can create real problems once the work starts.

Before a crew moves forward, take a minute to make sure the right information made it to the right people. What changed? What needs attention? Who is responsible for the next step?

A clear handoff protects the schedule, the crew, and the quality of the work.

This week, pay attention to the transitions between shifts, crews, tasks, and decisions. Prevention often starts there.

Student athlete → industrial athlete.

Catamount has continued building relationships with the National Wrestling Coaches Association and the Wrestlers in Business Network WIBN National around an important question:

Where do athletes go next?

For many wrestlers, the trades are a natural fit.

Wrestling builds grit, discipline, body awareness, coachability, and a willingness to do hard things. Those same traits matter on jobsites, in shops, in plants, and across the skilled trades.

At Catamount, a big part of our work is helping develop the industrial athlete: people who move well, think clearly, and perform safely in physically demanding environments.

As these conversations continue, the goal is to help connect wrestlers, especially those coming out of high school, with real opportunities in the trades.

Your head is heavier than you think.

Forward head posture can show up anywhere: at a desk, behind the wheel, in a piece of equipment, or while looking down at a phone.

As the head moves forward, the muscles of the neck and upper back have to work harder to hold it up. Over time, that extra load can contribute to tightness, fatigue, headaches, and that burning feeling between the neck and shoulder blades.

One simple reset is to bring the ear back over the shoulder and gently lengthen through the back of the neck. This helps reduce unnecessary strain and gives the body a better position to work from.

Small posture changes can make a big difference during long workdays.
