Had the pleasure of grinding 6 large stumps at Garnet Lake Lodge in Johnsburg, NY. What a beautiful location and the owners are some of the nicest people I’ve encountered in this business.

Mother Nature threw us a big curveball on this job. She hid a lot of rocks, a splitting wedge, a steel bar, and a few other objects inside of the stumps. Note: this is very common here in the heart of the Adirondacks which makes stump grinding much more tedious.

Objects damage the teeth on the grinder so it’s imperative that we do are best not to hit them. We ask all land owners to keep in mind that this adds time to the job and inevitably damage to the teeth no matter how hard we try to avoid objects hidden inside of stumps. The teeth on the grinder cost $15 to $20 a piece and the machine has 12 of them.
