We believe that our homegrown products and handcrafted wines show all the care and devotion that we have personally put in every step of the way. That is because we are not only the owners but we are also the vineyard workers, the winemakers, and the grounds keepers. You would be amazed what two people can accomplish when they are in love with what they do and put their minds to it. Our tasting ro

om, located in a hundred year-old farmhouse, is complimented by gorgeous heart of pine floors and a large porch overlooking a tranquil pond with a view to the rolling vineyards beyond. Each room has been decorated with a particular theme in mind. We have the Pop Culture Room that features Seinfeld (if you are a Seinfeld fan, you will love this room) that also includes other popular TV shows and changes every so often; the Civil War Room; an upstairs dining room that includes a large rustic table with a variety of eclectic chairs and huge photos of our beloved pets; the Cooper/Lomax Room (devoted to the history of the farm); and finally our formal tasting room. Whether it’s enjoying the sunset on the porch or relaxing with friends over a glass of wine in one of our fun themed rooms, Granite Heights has something for everyone. Come visit and let us help you experience “the taste of Virginia”.

HI THERE, we are excited to tell you that the next opening of Granite Heights tasting room will be on Friday, September 4th from 2 to 6 pm for First Friday!
Then we will be OPEN (Sat/Sun) Sept 5th & 6th AND Sept 12th & 13th both from 12-5 pm.

We have a TREAT for those who come to visit us in September.
Lomax Reserve, a Bordeaux blend, has been one of our most popular wines at Granite Heights. We have sold out of the most recent vintage - 2022. HOWEVER, I have found a few bottles of some of our older vintages of Lomax Reserve that we will rotate through the wine tasting lineup. While supplies last, you can also enjoy this wine by the glass or purchase a bottle. We will rotate through 4 different vintages that I have brought over to the tasting room.

We are down to 3-4 cases of the following wines:

2021 Barbera (our BOGO wine)
2022 Cabernet Franc B
2023 humility (Lagrein) that won a GOLD medal in the 2025 VA Governor's Cup competition.

Remember we offer 10% off 3-5 bottles, 25% off 6-11 bottles and 50% off 12 or more bottles purchased.

If you don't want to miss out in purchasing wine but can't make it for a visit, these discounts are also available for orders placed through Vinoshipper via our website (www.gh.wine)

Hope to see you in September!

FYI, our Petit Manseng 2025 and 2022 Lomax is almost gone now. What is left is in the tasting room. Tomorrow is our last day we’re open until September.

As many of you already know, this has been a rough year for Virginia wine and for farmers in general. We had that Snow Crete winter, then the April freeze where we got down to 21-22 degrees here, a persistent drought. ....! Like several nearby wineries, we also will not be getting any fruit this year which is ok for us but I pray for the other wineries. Many of you already know that Luke and I started the process toward retirement from the winery/sales/vineyard business in early 2025. We changed our hours to just the first 2 weekends of the month which gave us the other weekends to play and have some time for ourselves. We sold most of our grapes to a nearby winery last year as well. We started this business, in addition to our previous jobs, almost 20 years ago (2008). We were a lot younger and more robust back then. As you also know, we have been the ones to do the work - vineyard work, winery work, farm work and tasting room work along with our other jobs of doctor and lawyer. We look back now and wonder how we ever had the energy to do all that we did over those years. Since last year, we are enjoying sleeping in a bit on weekends, taking day trips/hikes with our dogs, spending weekends with friends, visiting family out of state. We are hoping to travel more, perhaps even overseas. We also love our home and property here in Opal. Thus, we have decided we will officially retire and close down the tasting room once we move most of our wine inventory likely by the end of this year. Luke will continue with his small law practice and I will continue to work at the Fauquier Free Clinic seeing patients. Matt will still help Luke at his law practice and he will keep busy with the friends he has made in the tasting room.
As we plan to stay here we are removing vines and restoring the fields to the way they were. However, we plan to keep just a few rows of grapes for us to make wine for fun (hobby wine). Luke has also planted a block of Zinnias and Sunflowers you may see in full bloom later this summer. Now don't feel sad. We hope you will be happy for us. We have made alot of good friends over these past years. We plan to continue to have dinners and weekend visits with you. Someone has to help me eat all the great food Luke has been cooking up. No plans to open a restaurant, he promised.
Many of you have been coming to Granite Heights for years. We love and appreciate all of you who have visited and supported us over the years. We want thank all of our volunteers who have helped us in the tasting room, at the winery and in the vineyard. We couldn't have been successful without you.
If Granite Heights has ever been a place you've enjoyed, now is the time to come back. Bring friends. Take advantage of our 6 and 12 bottle discounts.
