A joint venture between Fauquier County and George Mason University, the Mason Enterprise Center, is located at 70 Main St. The center, known as the Mason Enterprise Center- Fauquier County or MEC-Fauquier, the facility is dedicated to supporting the growth and success of Fauquier County businesses. The MEC-Fauquier features eight private offices, co-working space for entrepreneurs, support for vi
rtual clients, training and special programs, along with conference room meeting space, all for firms who are in early growth stages. Tenants sign short-term leases, have a professional work environment, support facilities, training and special programs, and access to Mason and other business counselors, to speed them on the path to success. The MEC serves as a 3,300 square foot breeding ground for entrepreneurs, creating new jobs and supporting economic growth in the County. The MEC-Fauquier is managed by local resident, Renee Younes, who ran the Manassas facility for three years as Mason’s Regional Director in Prince William. Participating client or “Member” companies are expected to outgrow the MEC facility by their two-year program participation mark. The inclusion of co-working space is a first for a Mason Enterprise Center. While this is the fifth Mason Enterprise Center in Northern Virginia, it is the only one so far that offers space known as “co-working” which features a less formal, more open space, for entrepreneurs who are moving from operating at local coffee houses and restaurants. Fauquier-based businesses, whether physically located at the Center or not, will be able to take advantage of Mason counselors, training and special programs.
