Where it started

Years ago, I met a couple with a dream and a piece of land.

They told me what they wanted to build on their new farm. I listened, and over the years I've watched those ideas turn into something real.

I came in right after their shell building went up. I brought power to the building and installed the electrical service. It was a simple job on paper, but it's the one that lit the place up.

Then he asked me, "Do you do other aspects of construction?"

I told him the truth. I have 25+ years in the trades, from residential work to commercial and industrial construction, where I spent most of my career. When he heard that I know building from the ground up, he said, "Well, I want you to do our living quarters build-out when we're ready."

That day has come. Over the next few weeks, I'll walk you through what we built. 🏗️

Not every job comes with a coworker like this. 🐐😂

While we were out working this farm, one of the residents decided he wasn't going to let a little fence-building keep him from making a new friend. He walked right up, got in frame, and made sure he got his picture taken too.

This is the side of the job you don't always see — the quiet moments in between the hard work. The reason we love what we do isn't just the finished product. It's moments like this one.

Over 1,000 linear feet. One continuous line of protection for a family's new herd. 🐑🐐

Fencing isn't just about marking a property line — it's about keeping animals safe, keeping predators out, and giving a family peace of mind that their animals have a secure place to call home. We ran welded wire livestock fence across the entire pasture perimeter, tied into gates, and made sure every foot of it was built to last.

That's our rig out there in the pasture (yes, that's us!) getting it done from open field to finished fence line. Bobo Construction & Land Management — wherever the work takes us.

"Home, At Last" (The Animals + The Heart of It All)

This is why we do it. ❤️

After weeks of clearing, excavating, rebuilding, and fencing — the barns are ready, the pastures are secure, and the animals are finally home. Goats, sheep, a horse, donkeys, geese — a whole farm family settling into the space we helped prepare for them.

This job started as a response to a Facebook message. It became something we're genuinely proud of. Because at Bobo Construction & Land Management, it's never just about the concrete, the dirt, or the fence line — it's about the people (and animals) on the other side of it.

"Clearing the Way Home" (Driveway / Land Clearing)

Before this family could even bring their animals home, they needed a way to get home. 🚜

The entryway to this farm was overgrown and impassable — brush, tree line, and years of neglect blocking the path in. We cleared it out completely, opening up a clean, safe entrance for equipment, trailers, and eventually — the animals themselves.

Land clearing isn't glamorous, but it's foundational. You can't build a farm you can't get to.

🏡 From Rot to Rock Solid: A Roof, A Legacy, A Promise Kept

This week, we shared the full story behind one of the most meaningful projects we've taken on this year — and here's how it ended. 👇

It started with a connection none of us saw coming. A man reached out to us who once worked alongside my Uncle Bill Bobo — a builder who spent his life putting up homes across Bedford County, TN before he passed. Over a few long conversations, it became clear: he didn't just know of Uncle Bill. He worked beside him. He carried stories only certain family ever get to hear.

So when he asked us to help repair his daughter's roof, we said yes without hesitation — even though it wasn't a job we'd normally take on.

What we found went far beyond a routine repair:

🌳 Buried in overgrowth — we had to clear brush and cut an elevated canopy just to access the property and see the damage ⚠️ Hidden structural failure — years of water intrusion had rotted the rafters and decking clean through in multiple spots 🔨 Torn back to the bones — every section of compromised framing had to be cut out and rebuilt from scratch 🛡️ Rebuilt right — new decking, synthetic underlayment, no shortcuts ⚙️ Sealed for the long haul — a brand-new standing-seam metal roof, installed panel by panel

And now? This home stands strong — clear of the brush that once swallowed it, protected by a roof that will outlast anything that came before it.

Not every job is in our normal lane. But for family, for legacy, and for the people who remind us where we came from — we'll always make room.

With solid decking and underlayment down, it was finally time for the roof itself.

Our crew installed a new metal panel roofing system — panel by panel, seam by seam, working their way across the structure. Metal roofing isn't just about looks; it's a long-term investment in protection. No more hidden leaks, no more slow rot working its way into the frame unnoticed.

Watching this roof come together after everything it took to get here — the brush clearing, the canopy cut, tearing out rotted framing, rebuilding the deck — hit different. This wasn't a routine reroof. This was bringing a home back from real structural failure.

One more day of finishing work, and this project is done. 🏠

"Down to the Dirt" (Excavation + Base Build)

When we say we do it all — we mean it. 💪

After clearing out years of old bedding and debris from every barn on the property, we didn't stop at "clean." We excavated each barn down to a suitable soil level, then rebuilt the entire base with crusher-run stone — compacted in lifts for a long-lasting, durable surface that will hold up to years of animal traffic, weather, and daily wear.

This is the part most people never see in a "farm cleanup" — the engineering underneath. A barn is only as good as what's under your boots.

Rebuilding From the Bones Out

🪵 Down to the Studs, Back to Solid

You can't put a good roof over bad bones — so before anything else went down, our crew got to work rebuilding the structure itself.

Rotted rafters were cut out and replaced. New framing went in where the old wood had failed completely. Fresh plywood decking was cut, fitted, and fastened over every section that had been compromised by years of water intrusion.

This is the unglamorous part of the job — the part nobody sees in the final photos — but it's the part that matters most. A roof is only as good as what's underneath it, and we weren't about to cover up a problem instead of fixing it.

Once the new decking was solid and secure, we rolled out synthetic underlayment across the entire roof — a moisture barrier that gives this home a level of protection the original construction never had.

Slow, careful, methodical work. Exactly how Uncle Bill would have wanted it done. 🛠️
