Today's featured presenter at BNI was Walter Nencka of Independence Financial Partners, our chapter's financial planner.
For the past 17 years, Walter has built his business the right way—through relationships, trust, and helping clients navigate every stage of life with a thoughtful financial plan.
His presentation focused on how your investment strategy should evolve as your age, goals, and life circumstances change. There's no one-size-fits-all approach to financial planning.
Walter shared a few real-life examples of clients he's guided over the course of a decade or more:
📈 One client, a 63-year-old business owner, wanted to sell her company while maintaining the lifestyle she'd worked so hard to build. Walter developed a five-year strategy that included retirement contributions, after-tax investments, and multiple accounts with different purposes—all designed to create a smooth transition into retirement.
🏡 Another client, now 75, had limited retirement savings but significant equity in her home. Over the last 12 years, Walter helped prepare for the eventual sale of the property, creating a plan that transformed that equity into a reliable source of income to cover living expenses and keep pace with inflation.
The biggest takeaway? Financial planning isn't about chasing the highest returns—it's about creating a strategy that supports the life you want to live, today and in the future.
Great job, Walter! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and reminding us that successful financial planning is built over time, one relationship at a time.
