🐟 Fish tacos, an 80-degree office, and a Monday morning nobody was prepared for…

It sounds like a lesson in “common sense,” right?

But in this week’s Pantheon Perspective, Reyna Monson asks leaders to look at it a little differently.

What we call “common sense” is often experience we’ve gathered over years of making mistakes, learning lessons, and having others show us the way.

The next time you catch yourself thinking, “How could they not know that?” it might be worth asking:

Is it really common sense… or is it experience?

Read this week’s Pantheon Perspective to hear Reyna’s take on one of the most important — and sometimes frustrating — parts of leadership.

☁️ Cloud or on-premises?

Before deciding, start with what your business is actually trying to accomplish.

Ask questions like:

✓ Will it make employees more productive?
✓ Will it improve reliability?
✓ Will it reduce risk?
✓ What will it cost over time?
✓ What happens if the internet goes down?
✓ How difficult will it be to move the data again someday?

Those questions may not be as exciting as saying, “We’re moving everything to the cloud,” but they lead to better technology decisions.

Cloud can be an excellent solution. So can keeping something on-site.

The right technology strategy is the one that works for your business.

Should everything be moved to the cloud? ☁️

Cloud technology can be a great fit for businesses — but that doesn’t mean every server, application, or file needs to live there.

Sometimes cloud makes the most sense. Sometimes keeping something on-site does. And often, the best solution is a combination of both.

In our latest podcast, we break down what businesses should actually consider when deciding between cloud and on-premises technology — without declaring one the winner.

☁️ Cloud does not automatically mean better.

For years, “move it to the cloud” has been treated like the answer to almost every technology question.

But the better question is: Does moving this particular system to the cloud make sense for this particular business?

Cloud solutions can offer some great advantages—remote access, easier collaboration, flexibility, and redundancy. But they aren’t automatically cheaper, faster, safer, or easier.

Sometimes keeping a system on-site makes more sense. And often, the best solution is a thoughtful combination of cloud and on-premises technology.

The goal isn’t to choose the newest option. It’s to choose the option that works.
