Ladies and gentlemen,
Happy New Year, and may 2026 be your best year yet! We are so proud to have been a part of your 2025 with YBP. With that said, we are excited to announce elections for the 2026 YBP Board of Directors. Getting involved with the community is a great way to make connections for life and gain influence to see changes you want to come into fruition. Please feel free to chat with any of our past or present board members and we are happy to clarify any questions about what it’s like to be on the board. Please see the announcement and details below
Important election/campaigning dates: Sunday January 24th, 2026- COB, Sunday, January 31st, 2026: Call for candidates, please submit an up-to-date resume, a brief statement of interest, and what position you would like to run for to [email protected]. February 1: Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria (see below) will be announced on the Facebook and LinkedIn groups
February 1st-7th: Campaigning period. Candidates' campaigning posts will be approved in the Facebook and LinkedIn groups. Due to a shortened timeline, a maximum of one post in each platform will be allowed. YBP will not allow campaigning on any other YBP-owned digital platforms (including Chai Chat, due to it being a private, smaller group of members).
Tuesday, February 8th: voting via Google Forms to be independently monitored by a previous YBP board member not involved in elections.
Available Positions: President**, Vice President, Marketing Director, Finance Director, Special Events and Community Relations Director
NOTE: President must have been on a previous YBP Board of Directors for six months.
Voting procedures: Voting will be monitored by a board-elected election monitor. All active members of YBP (members who attended at least two events in 2025, except current board members and candidates themselves) are eligible to vote. We have been compiling a list of attendees through the year for each event. Please let us know if you would like us to resubmit a copy for your reference.
Candidate eligibility rules based on bylaws: To qualify to run for YBP Board of Directors, one must meet the following requirements: Be in their 20s or 30s and be of part or entirely Bangladeshi or Bengali origin or married to someone who identifies as such: Having attended at least two in-person events in the year preceding the election (also known as an ‘active member’ in 2025), be in good standing with the organization, and be willing to commit to serving for a minimum of one year Candidates may run for up to two roles.
Any candidate for President shall have been a member of the Board of Directors for at least six months before the Election Date.
Below are the list of available position that you may qualify for:
PRESIDENT: The President serves as the chief volunteer leader of the organization, providing strategic direction, leadership, and external representation. The President works closely with the YBP board members, attendees, or other volunteers to ensure the organization fulfills its mission, operates responsibly, and maintains strong community relationships.
VICE PRESIDENT: The Vice President assists with strategic planning, board operations, and organizational initiatives, and assumes the responsibilities of the YBP President in their absence. This role is key to ensuring continuity, collaboration, and effective ex*****on of the organization’s mission.
MARKETING DIRECTOR: The Marketing Director is responsible for developing and executing marketing and communications strategies that promote the organization’s mission, programs, and impact. This role oversees branding, messaging, digital presence, and promotional activities to increase awareness, engagement, and support from the community.
FINANCIAL DIRECTOR: The Finance Director oversees the financial planning, management, and reporting of the organization to ensure fiscal responsibility, transparency, and sustainability. This role supports the board members in making informed financial decisions and ensures compliance with applicable financial and regulatory requirements.
SPECIAL EVENTS AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS DIRECTOR: The Special Events and Community Relations Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing special events while building and maintaining strong relationships with community partners, or other sponsors. This role plays a key part in fundraising, outreach, and public engagement to increase awareness and support for the organization’s mission.
