I was recently contacted by a someone who wanted me to review their product. As a content creator, believe me when I tell you, I love getting messages like this.

In their pitch, they requested that I share my review with them so they could share it with others. Again, I have absolutely no problem doing that. I want you to know how I feel about what you’ve produced.

However, I got the distinct impression that they wanted a favorable review regardless of what I thought about the product. I mean what if I didn’t like the product?? Giving lip service doesn’t do anyone any good. That’s not how I roll.

You deserve honesty and transparency. Perfumers and companies do as well.

It would serve everyone well to hear HONEST feedback. That way, if need be, the focus can shift to fine tuning processes and making a better product (which serves both the consumer AND the provider).

My advice to companies and perfumers, take what we (we as in content creators) say seriously. And for the love of everything, stop getting offended when we tell you that we’re not going to bend the knee to your desire of telling people what they want to hear instead of what they NEED to hear (especially if YOU’RE THE ONE HITTIN’ US UP).

P.S. I haven’t heard back from this entity which gives credence to my belief that they didn’t want honesty, just a feel good moment.

While my fragrance journey didn’t start like this, I have to admit, when I was younger, getting the occasional unsolicited compliment did boost the ego just a tad.

So many of us are on the hunt for that ever elusive “grail” fragrance. However, let’s keep perspective. This is a HOBBY. Once you start making it seem like a job, it loses a certain amount of fun. I do what I do because I ENJOY it.

I really appreciate video on whether or not, we as content creators have a “responsibility” to those who view our content. I think many of us started creating content whether they be YT channels or blogs etc etc because we have a sincere passion for fragrance. The artistry, the creativity, the perfumers, it all resonates with us.

That being said, and quite honestly, please do not look at ME as the end all, be all of fragrance authority!!

If you’re listening to my channel (or any other), I hope it’s because you want insight and information, not because you’re in any distress and think that fragrance bottles are your way to a better life in any capacity.

Don’t go into debt for that next shiny bottle!!!! Keep perspective…and keep watching (I need the subs) lol

Fragrance is inextricably linked to some of the best memories of my life.

While I haven’t been creating content for long, fragrance has allowed me to do things I never thought I’d do and meet people I never thought I’d meet. Memories created by those moments will last a lifetime. Here are just a few:

1.) I first encountered .njie.perfumes on my very first visit to . I was enamored by Tobak! I’ve always loved to***co scents, but this was so much MORE than what I’ve experienced with To***co Vanille or any other fragrance. Tobak is both dark and comforting, yet sweet and earthy. While you may have to give this time and warm up to it (because I can see some similarities to Musc Ravageur), it was an instant love for me (and I’m definitely going to be checking out more fragrances from the brand).

2.) In 2019, I went on a Mediterranean cruise. While stopping at the port in Naples, I was bound and determined to find a perfumery to smell something unique. came to my rescue!!! There, I encountered
and Untamed Oud. Now, I’m not gonna tell you how much I spent, but let’s just say I’ve used less than 10 ml since 2019. This fragrance is special and will always remind me of walking through Naples in 90 degree weather in search of something unique, something I had never heard of and couldn’t find in the U.S.

3.) I discovered at ScentXplore 2019 in NY. I was blown away by their fragrances, presentation and commitment to unique fragrance expressions, and the memories that are made from them. I look forward to experiencing a lot more from them.

Smelling like PURE LUXURY today (in my hoodie and my sweats).

Sometimes you just have to smell like a million trillion dollars when teleworking in your kitchen, wearing sweats, eating leftover food from Superbowl Sunday, while you hope not to get heartburn because you can’t eat like you’re in your 20’s anymore. I’m just sayin!

If you haven’t experienced collection yet, you need to treat yourself in 2022!

There are tons of ways we consume things on Instagram. Some folks love stories, others don’t bother to look at them. Some prefer reels, and others love just the basic post. In an effort to reach as many of you as I can, I had this in my story yesterday. If you didn’t get the chance to see it, I wanted to put it here as well.
