📜👮‍♂️ The Lucius D. Amerson Bridge Builder Foundation is dedicated to preserving the history of Black Sheriffs, past, and present. Sheriff Jim Cooper’s historic election in 2022 as Sacramento County’s first African American sheriff marks a significant milestone. With over 30 years of law enforcement experience, he’s breaking barriers and making history.

👏 Sheriff Cooper, a former assembly member and Elk Grove mayor, is not only the first new sheriff Sacramento County has seen in a decade, but he’s also only the second Black sheriff ever in the entire state of California, a state of 40 million people.

🗣️ In his own words, “Obviously, my background is very different than others, but more importantly, I’m a sheriff for all.” His commitment to serving the community is truly inspiring.

🤝 Let’s celebrate this historic moment and support the Lucius D. Amerson Bridge Builder Foundation’s mission to archive and honor the legacy of Black Sheriffs across the nation. The State of California now proudly has a Black Sheriff, and it’s time to recognize and commemorate this achievement. 🇺🇸🙌
