IndigoWomen is more than a coaching and consulting practice--it’s a movement to co-create spaces, methods, and conditions for Black women in leadership to thrive. At IndigoWomen, we seek to inspire and equip Black women in leadership to rejuvenate their minds, bodies, and spirits so that they can lead authentically, effectively, and sustainably. For centuries, Black women have been quietly respons

ible for leading familial, organizational, communal, societal, and global transformation--all while receiving the least amount of relevant and meaningful support for their basic health, leadership, and human needs. When a Black woman awakens her divine power, cultivates it in the company of other Black women, and channels it toward her life’s purpose, her influence is limitless and felt for generations. At IndigoWomen, we reimagine and clear the path for what Black women in leadership can experience, create, and mobilize when their wholeness is prioritized and nurtured.

Last week day of May.

Closing the month with one honest question that holds all four weeks:

What are you ready to release that your leadership can no longer afford to carry?

Not what you should release.

What you are actually ready to let go.

A grip. A definition. A performance. An urgency.

Whatever it is — naming it is the beginning of surrender.

And surrender, as this month has shown, is not passivity.

It is the most courageous kind of leadership.

May was about one word. And it was harder — and truer — than expected.

Surrender.

Not as passivity. Not as defeat. As the sacred discipline of releasing what keeps the next level from arriving.

Four dimensions. Four weeks.

Surrendering the need to control everything.

Surrendering the old definition of success.

Surrendering to being supported.

Surrendering to divine timing and inner wisdom.

None of these is finished. All of them are worth continuing.

Because surrender, done consistently, is how capacity expands. How definitions get truer. How support finally lands. How clarity replaces urgency.

Shayna Renée Hammond, Founder and CEO of Indigo Unbound, is the host of The Grounded CEO — a talk show coming soon to Zerlo Network.

The Grounded CEO is the next chapter of everything this community has been building together.

For years, Indigo Unbound has created sacred space for Black leaders to do the inner work — to heal, regulate, lead from our whole selves, and build from a place of genuine alignment rather than survival.

Now that work has a platform that reaches far beyond the rooms we've been in.

A question worth sitting with today:

What would you do if you were not behind?

If the chronic feeling of insufficient progress lifted — even briefly — what would you actually do with the clarity that emerged?

What decision has been waiting for you to be still enough to make it?

What direction has your body been signaling that urgency keeps overriding?

What step is clear in your spirit but keeps getting deferred because the conditions haven't felt right yet?

Sometimes the reason conditions never feel right is not that the conditions are wrong.

It is that you have not given yourself permission to move from clarity instead of pressure.

At some point, urgency stopped being a response to a specific crisis and became the baseline.

The permanent feeling of being behind. The inability to be fully in one moment because the next one is already demanding attention. The impossibility of stillness without guilt.

For many entrepreneurs and leaders, this is not simply a productivity pattern. It is a survival response — a nervous system that learned, in environments requiring constant vigilance, that slowing down carried real risk.

But a nervous system in permanent urgency cannot access what leadership actually requires.

It cannot listen deeply enough to receive genuine intuition.

It cannot distinguish between what is actually urgent and what only feels urgent because anxiety has become the default filter.

Surrendering to divine timing is not passivity.

It is moving from clarity instead of anxiety.

That distinction changes everything.
