Last night, I was invited to a very special small dinner gathering hosted by Ambassador Tomita with extremely special guest, Mrs. Prime Minister Kishida during her visit in DC

During the dinner, each of us had an opportunity to introduce ourselves. I took this opportunity to share my passion towards the cherry blossoms 🌸 in my dream together the community through Sake🍶

It was so special to get to know Mrs. Prime Minister. But it was even more special to get to know Mrs. Kishida as an individual person with lots of rules just like all of us. I would like to sincerely thank Embasy of Japan for giving me such an honorable opportunity.

ABOUT THE 6821 SERIES

Cleverly named to reflect the distance in miles between Tokyo and Washington DC, The 6821 Series will present the Trio this year, that consists of international artists coming together to fulfill the understanding that music brings disparate cultures together. The group was originally conceived as a joint effort between the Ryuji Ueno Foundation and the National Cherry Blossom Festival to bring a more prominent classical music presence to the spring festivities in Washington DC.

This Japanese Stone Lantern was created in 1651 when Tokugawa Iemitsu (Sh**un) passed. You will find the famous Tokugawa crest on the top. This was originally created as a pair, so its partner still sits in Ueno Park in Tokyo. This was presented to DC on March 30, 1954 from Tokyo.

Originally the lantern was planned to be presented in the 1920s. But unfortunate and complicated historical background at the time, that eventually led to the war between US and Japan (WWII) prevented it from happening.

After the war, Japan began to revive and shifts itself towards high economic growth era. It was around this time when the concept of building iconic Tokyo Tower emerged, and the friendship between the US and Japan was blooming even further. AND… it was this time, the stone lantern was gifted to US as another symbol of the friendship.

Every year, there is a ceremony to light this lantern. This year it will be held on April 3rd at 2:30-4:30 (open to public)

We are looking for handful of volunteers to take part as BON(FOLK) Dance Trigger-ers

EVENT: National Harbor “MINYO BLOOMS IN WASHIGNTON_DC
DATE: Saturday, March 19
TIME: Volunteers needed from 2:00PM~5PM
(Performance: 4-5PM)
PLACE: National Harbor Outdoor Stage

We are looking for about 10 volunteers to support the Minyo Crusaders / 民謡クルセイダーズ performance that are coming from Japan to perform at National Harbor on Saturday, March 19.

Do you like Japan? Do you want to experience piece of Japan? Do you simply enjoy the "new" experiences?

THIS is for you!!!

All we ask is for you to study extremely simple Bon-Dance movement before this Saturday, and on the day of, we just dance this Bon-Dance with the crowd!

NOTES:
We will cover your Parking.
If you have to use the ride-share, we will cover up to $30 (round trip)
Come casual, and we'll have light coat for you to wear on-site!
