Mid-year pivot.

What’s working for you now? What’s not?

You do not need to do a full written self-reflection. Just take a few minutes this week. 5, 10 or 15 minutes to think about it. Here are the questions to ask yourself:

What is a big win since January?🌟

What have I wanted to accomplish but haven’t? AND is this still an important goal for me now?🤔

What is one thing I would love to accomplish before year-end? What do I need to do (if anything) to get there?🎯

Here is mine:

🌟Big win: Speaking at the Power of Your People Summit

🐢Not there yet: Fell short of my podcast goal this quarter. Pivoting to make this a priority and book more interviews for Q3 & Q4. Will aim to send some pitches out this month to be ready for it!

Before year end, another Vault cohort will open and I am launching a new offer 🤫 coming soon!🎯

What is a win or a pivot for you? Share 👇🏻so I can cheer you on!

Another amazing well-being at work collaboration. 🌟

Today for our mindful well-being break at lunch, led my client’s team in a restorative sound bath. What made it fun and unique was the bowls and chimes creating an incredibly relaxing and soothing experience - all while team members took a break, closed their eyes and took a mindful moment mid-day. Leadership showed up giving everyone permission to do the same and be fully present. 🌟

Have you ever done a sound bath, in-person or virtual? Tap that 🩵if you have or if you want to give it a try.

Workplace Wonder 🔮

A question I often get from my clients: How do you handle a team member who is consistently late?

Before you manage the behavior, first discover the cause.

Is it a scheduling conflict? A personal challenge? A lack of accountability? The answer changes your approach entirely.

Start with a private, direct conversation with the team member, not a public call-out. Lead with curiosity, not frustration, saying something like: “I’ve noticed you’ve been coming in late — is everything okay? Is there something we need to adjust?”

Sometimes it’s a simple fix (a shifted start time). Sometimes it’s a bigger conversation. But assuming the worst before you ask the question is where managers lose trust. And as I tell my kids, once the toothpaste is out of the tube, it’s hard to get it back in.

Build the trust. Ask the question with compassion. Address it early. Ignoring the behavior is worse for everyone in the long-run.

Have you ever had to have this conversation? What worked — and what didn’t? Drop it below. 👇

Two years ago today, we celebrated this guy. It was a magical day all around✨💙

I often talk about being open at work about what is going on in your life - not a full novel - but let people know when you are disconnecting and why.

For me, two years ago, I turned off the work and tuned into family and celebrating my son’s Bar Mitzvah. I am glad I did. It was an amazing day all around and I was truly present.

As leaders, we need to model the same behavior - meaningfully disconnecting - when it comes to both big and small moments that matter to YOU. Team members will then feel they can do the same.

I speak to teams all of the time about “knowing their people,” and this starts by asking questions like:

🩵 How can I best support you this week?

💛 How are you feeling about your workload?

💙 Is there anything on your mind that we haven’t talked about recently?

Questions like these open the door for real conversations to happen. For an employee to say, for instance, “this week, I need backup because my kiddo’s Bar Mitzvah is this upcoming weekend.”

What is one question your boss has asked that has opened the door for you to share a bit more about your life at work? Share below 👇🏻 so we can make connection easier in the workplace.

Psychological safety - what does it actually mean at work?

I have seen this phrase thrown around so much over the past couple of years, and with it being Mental Health Month, I wanted to share my take on it because most managers are not reallu sure what this means and give an eye roll 🙄 when they hear it.

Here’s what it means to me: Your team doesn’t feel like they have to hide and they can approach you when they hit a hurdle without worrying they will get fired or experience repercussions.

So how do you build psychological safety in the workplace? It starts with YOU.

A few things I’ve seen work:

→ Checking in before checking up. Asking a genuine: “How are you doing today?” before diving into “Where are we on that project?”

→ Sharing something small and real about your own week - not oversharing, just being human so team members can connect with you.

→ Responding to vulnerability with curiosity, not solutions. Sometimes people need to be heard, not fixed.

→ Normalizing language like “I’ve been managing some stress at home lately,” so your team feels permission to do the same.

Psychological safety isn’t a program or a “one & done.” It’s an intentional culture you model, one interaction at a time.

If you’re a small business owner or HR pro who wants to build this kind of culture purposefully, that’s exactly what The Vault is built for. It’s a place where we discuss how to create high-performing and highly engaged teams who stay for the long haul. Interested in joining the Vault? 🔗In bio.

What’s one thing your best manager ever did that made you feel safe at work? I’d love to hear it. 👇

Great mid-day yoga break and collaboration with who playlisted team members’ requests to this yoga flow! It was amazing!

Wellness at work is about fostering community among your team. And, bonus if you are able to get everyone moving in an activity to support their physical and mental well-being.

This month, my clients are focused on mental health awareness. So, while we are rethinking policies around flexibility, deep work time, and even extend extended bereavement leaves as needed, we are also making sure to give employees opportunities to try different mediums for taking a breath during the workday.

Wellness is not one “thing” or “activity.” It is about being intentional about ongoing connection, care and community building in your organization.

How to start? Model what taking a break looks like and encourage others to do so. This yoga class had rock solid participation across the entire team…with leadership team there AND present. 👏🏻👏🏻

How do you weave well-being into your workday? I would love to hear more in the comments below. And, need help getting something off the ground? DM me. I have amazing well-being professionals like who I am happy to connect you with!

Totally forgot to caption this video so sound on 🔊! But here are my 3 takeaways from the Onward conference in DC.

🤖 AI is not going anywhere but let’s reframe our approach and think of it as a co-worker and collaborator. Workplace intelligence - AI AND the Human Connection piece together are key.

🫶 Building trust and safety at work is going to be critical for retaining your people. What are you doing to inspire your people and how are you showing up for them on the bad days? (There will be bad days)

💊Pharmacy costs are not going down. There are innovative ways though to think about this benefit and get creative with your plans.

Every speaker was fantastic and gave tremendous insight on the future of work and what we need to be thinking about as we chart the path forward for our teams.

I’ll be diving into each of these and providing actionable approaches for implementing them, in my upcoming Vault meetings in May. DM me if you would like to come sit in for free. WE would love to have you inside!

I look at these photos often. Bottom left is my Mom, her senior year of high school, and well you know the other one is me. 😊

When I look at them, I of course miss my Mom, who passed away 18 years ago, but I also reflect on how much I have grown since that senior photo and how I have worked to build a life as a working Mom that my Mom would be so proud of – how I have grown something from nothing all in the name of connecting others, especially at work.

My senior year, my high school Calculus teacher said, “You will be a CEO one day.” This phrase has always lingered in the back of my mind. Between what my teacher saw in me and having an amazing Mom as a role model, who achieved true harmony with work and life, I felt confident to start The Wellness Extension 3 years ago.

Since then, my mission has remained the same: Bridge connections in the workplace through policies, programs & benefits grounded in well-being and human connection.

When I lost my Mom to cancer, I did not have the easiest transition back to work. That experience sits with me daily. I felt rushed back and even contemplated not returning at all. A short bereavement leave, no transition plan, little compassion or empathy. It was HARD. I knew that I could build better workplaces rooted in well-being and guide leaders to foster the human connection to make their organizations a truly “great place to work.”

Day-in and day-out, I work with small businesses and HR teams:

🩵Providing expert guidance in programs & policies that support your team during the highs AND the lows

🤹🏻‍♀️Being the extra set of hands for leaders juggling it all - from employee matters to benefits to onboarding

🤗Developing programs that foster human connection and camaraderie with teams

As we approach Mother’s Day this weekend, I will of course miss my Mom. 🩷AND, I will also reflect on how my story changed how I show up each day, putting well-being and human connection at the forefront at home AND at work - and how I help organizations do the same.

*Song tribute to my Mom. was one of her favorite artists*
