During the first half of 2026:
🌎 Solar generated 1,564 TWh of electricity worldwide — supplying more than 10% of global electricity for the first time.
🇺🇸 Here in the United States, solar generated about 227 TWh, accounting for roughly 10.2% of all U.S. electricity generation.
That means about 1 out of every 10 kilowatt-hours generated in the U.S. came from the sun.
And the momentum is growing fast.
Compared with the first half of 2025, U.S. solar generation increased by nearly 20%.
Even more remarkable: global solar electricity generation has more than doubled in just three years, growing from approximately 769 TWh in the first half of 2023 to 1,564 TWh in 2026.
These are huge numbers — but behind them are millions of individual rooftops, businesses, schools, churches, solar farms, and homeowners producing electricity every single day.
So we want to hear the real numbers behind the statistics. 👇
☀️ If you already have solar, how much electricity has your system generated so far this year?
Check your monitoring app and share your number in the comments — kWh, MWh, whatever you've got.
Bonus points if you want to share how your electricity bill has changed too. 📉
It would be amazing to see how much clean electricity our own community has produced collectively.
One rooftop may feel small.
Millions of rooftops?
That’s how you get to 10% of the world's electricity. 🌎☀️
