Bervell is a Ghanaian American medical student and science communicator known online as the “Medical Mythbuster.” He says he appreciates Movement Is Life’s emphasis on community-based programs, clinician education about health disparities, and health policy.

Bervell is excited to attend the MIL summit and meet like-minded people who are passionate about health equity.

Excited to repost a very compelling episode of The Health Disparities Podcast from Movement is Life which I hosted. Our distinguished guest, Pedro Jose Greer Jr MD, FACP, FACG, Founding Dean, Roseman University of Health Sciences, Recipient, Presidential Medal of Freedom (2009) and MacArthur Fellow (1993-1998) presented on Health Equity: How Medicine and Medical Education Needs to Change to Achieve True Health Equity.

According to Dr. Greer, med schools have not done a great job helping their students understand the social determinants of health — the many nonmedical factors that influence health outcomes.

Dr. Greer also presented on this very topic at the National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA) 30th Anniversary Celebration & Leadership Summit.

We had a great conference with insightful workshops, panels, and networking opportunities regarding Hispanic health priorities, strategies, and next steps.
