Last week's HousingAnd 35th Annual Meeting & Housing Expo energized the Brick & Story team. Whether learning from Executive Dir. Courtney R. Battle, Jair Lynch, Dr. Nicole Cooper, and Mansur Abdul-Malik, during the morning Plenary sessions; recognizing developer of the year Somerset Development Company; or celebrating Generation& Scholarship winner Chiagoziem Njoku, we are inspired to be part of a community that's working to address the chronic need for high quality and affordable housing in the Washington, DC metro region.

This year’s theme, “35 Years of Making HOMES,” invited us to reflect on 35 years of creating affordable homes and the regional collaboration needed to continue strengthening communities across our area.

Last Wednesday, April 29, the Brick & Story LLC team was privileged to continue our events management collaboration with MHP for a ribbon-cutting at Unity Place in Southeast, DC. Our role centered on the seamless ex*****on of event logistics to ensure the focus stayed on MHP, its resident speakers, and the distinguished guests who made this affordable housing milestone possible.

Brick & Story is pleased to spotlight Johnson’s Local Park where interpretive signs were created through the Untold Stories program and in collaboration with the Emory Grove United Methodist Church. Emory Grove community members contributed family records, pictures, and personal histories in celebration of the African American legacy in Gaithersburg, MD.

Brick & Story is working with HR&A Advisors and the City of Rockville to understand current and future housing needs among its residents. As part of this effort, our team hosted a pop-up table at the City of Rockville's Lunar New Year celebration on February 21 and collected 58 surveys from residents! We're excited to be able to partner with HR&A Advisors and the City of Rockville on this project!
