As one of the deadliest snakes in the world, it is also one of the fastest (20 km/h), and its venom is also highly toxic, with a single bite containing enough venom to kill a human within hours. As an apex predator, it helps to control the populations of other animals, and it also plays a crucial role in the food chain.
Black Mamba’s are also not “Black”. In fact, this snake's skin is typically a dark olive colour, although it can appear black in certain lighting conditions.
Despite its deadly reputation, the black mamba is a fascinating creature that can grow up to a maximum length of 4.3m. It is also highly intelligent, with the ability to navigate complex environments and even recognize individual humans.

THE LEGENDARY CHEETAH AND SPEED | FASTEST ANIMAL IN THE WORLD

Cheetahs are nature's Formula One cars – they are celebrated as the world's fastest mammal and ideally adapted for sprinting and chasing down prey.

The cheetah is a big cat with a tawny to creamy white or pale buff fur that is marked with evenly spaced, solid black spots.

Its head is small and rounded, with a short snout and black tear-like facial streaks.

Cheetahs are considered the fastest mammal in the world, reaching speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour.

They are not only fast but also have an outstanding acceleration.

Studies have prove that cheetahs can increase their speed by 10 kilometers per hour in a single stride.

Like a mammalian racing car, the cheetah has stretched the standard feline body plan to the limit, and they are incredibly light on their feet.

Adult males cheetahs weigh 41-45 kilograms on average, and females just 36-37 kilograms.

How do cheetahs run so fast?

Here are five possible reasons:

One: Flexible spine

The exceptionally long vertebral column has amazing flexibility, and as it flexes and straightens this boosts stride length.

Two: Long legs

Compared with other big cats, all of the leg bones are stretched.

The tibia and fibia are also fused to give more stability at speed, though this interferes with climbing.

Three: Big lungs

To deliver oxygen fast to hard-working muscles, the entire respiratory tract is enlarged.

During sprints the cat takes 150 breaths a minute, up from 60 at rest.

Four: Long tail
At 60-90cm, the muscular tail is half the head and body length. It acts like a counterbalance, aiding high speed manoeuvring.

Five: Feet and claws
Grip is enhanced by reduced toe-webbing, so the toes splay widely, and by the lack of claw sheaths, meaning they stick out like running spikes even if retracted.

Porcupines are large rodents with coats of sharp spines, or quills, that protect them against predation.

Porcupines occupy a small range of habitats in tropical and temperate parts of Asia, Southern Europe, Africa, and North and South America.

They live in forests and deserts, rocky outcrops, and hillsides.

Some New World porcupines live in trees, but Old World porcupines prefer a rocky environment. Porcupines can be found on rocky areas up to 12,100 feet high.

They are generally nocturnal but are occasionally active during daylight.

Despite their small stature, porcupines are extremely dangerous to attack and most of the times, the predators live to tell the tell.

Here, a leopard learns the hard way after confrontations with the porcupine who gives him a tale to tell.

Leopards can be relentlessly persistent hunters.

It's this never-give-up attitude that has helped the big cats become such successful predators across a broad array of habitats.

But porcupine hunting is no easy feat and only the most experienced cats can dispatch the prickly prey without injury.

A young leopard in South Africa's Kruger National Park was recently filmed trying its best to overpower a particularly unyielding porcupine – a challenge that ended with bloody paws and a few fresh facial piercings.

Cape porcupines -- Africa's largest rodents -- are equipped with a mass of quills that extend across much of their backs.

It's a myth that the animals can shoot their spines like arrows, instead, when threatened, they will see off predators by shaking their hollow tail spikes to create an intimidating rattling sound.

If the shaking doesn't deter any would-be attackers, they'll charge backwards at pace, skewering anything that gets in the way (leopards very much included).

The tactic seems to have worked for this rodent as the leopard clearly picked up a few injuries, and reports from those at the scene indicate that the porcupine bought itself enough time to scuttle into a burrow.

Research suggests, however, that it's usually the leopards that come out victorious in these showdowns.

These altercations can be risky for both species.
Some cats have learned how to breach the rodents' prickly defences by clawing their way underneath the sharp spines or by securing the porcupine's head.

Its a tactic that takes some time to master, and this young cat has much to learn.

Anteaters have extremely elongated snouts equipped with a thin and long tongue that is coated with sticky saliva produced by enlarged submaxillary glands.

Anteaters are the four extant mammal species in the suborder Vermilingua.

The mouth is small and has no teeth.

Anteaters are mostly solitary mammals prepared to defend their 1.0 to 1.5 sq mi (2.6 to 3.9 km2) territories. They do not normally enter a territory of another anteater of the same s*x, but males often enter the territory of associated females.

Anteaters are specialized to feed on small insects, with each anteater species having its own insect preferences:

The anteater's tongue is covered with thousands of tiny hooks called filiform papillae which are used to hold the insects together with large amounts of saliva.

Anteaters are known to host a wide variety of parasites, including ticks, fleas, parasitic worms, and acanthocephalans.
