Rip to the great Franca Sozzani. I was so eager to go to her first annual PhotoVogue festival just last month in Milan. I hoped for even two seconds to rub elbows with her.
She understood how powerful the medium of photography is. That's why people who didn't even speak Italian bought Italian Vogue.
She championed visionaries like Tim Walker, Steven Meisel and Paolo Roversi. 3 of my personal favorite photographers. And she never shied away from controversial topics, She actually ran towards them and used art to speak about them instead.
PhotoVogue is an awesome platform where new photographers are given a chance to be seen by editors at Italian Vogue. And it was her baby. She was always looking for the next great talent.
I am curious about the direction of the magazine and PhotoVogue.
I thank her for being the beacon or inspiration for so many of us ..
