What does it mean to be happy? Gallup, along with the Oxford Wellbeing Research Centre, the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network and the World Happiness Report’s Editorial Board, wanted to find out — so we set out to understand the factors that impact happiness at various stages of life. The result is the 2024 World Happiness Report, which provides a closer look at wellbeing among people across different global regions, examines the wellbeing impact of dementia among older generations and provides an analysis of happiness across India’s population of more than 1.4 billion. We celebrated today with a global launch event in our Washington, D.C., office where wellbeing experts, policy practitioners and thought leaders came together to discuss data-driven insights on a global conversation about happiness. Today the Gallup Center on Black Voices hosted an event focused on key insights regarding the state of higher education and Black learners, and shared findings from “Black Thriving in America: 2023” — a study conducted in partnership with the Payne Center for Social Justice. Attendees heard from our Chairman and leaders of the Gallup Center on Black Voices, wrapping up time in our D.C. office listening in on a panel discussion with our public sector team. Last week associates Michael, Ilana and Chris joined Gallup Board Member and two-time Ambassador of Columbia to the U.S. Juan Carlos Pinzon at the 2024 Munich Security Conference. In addition to learning and networking, Ilana and Juan Carlos also hosted an official side event roundtable discussion on perceptions of safety and security. Using Gallup’s data, they shared discoveries around how safe people around the world feel within their communities – a feeling so vital to human development that the United Nations uses it as one of its indicators of its Sustainable Development Goals. It was such an exciting, mission-driven experience – we were honored to share data that has the power to change the world. Our Gallup Berlin team recently celebrated thirty years of empowering organizations in Germany to build productive, exceptional workplaces. Senior executives from across the region, including leaders from Kempinski Hotels, WEPA, Mercedes Benz and Gallup joined together in our Gallup Berlin office for a panel discussion around the challenges of creating thriving workplaces, the evolution of the world of work in Germany and what leaders need to be focused on to build a strong future. It was an evening full of inspiration and excitement as we look ahead at what’s to come in our European regions. Cheers to the Berlin team for thirty years of client focus, incredible growth and long-lasting partnerships.

From interning in our Omaha Riverfront office to leading a CliftonStrengths workshop at her university, we love seeing what summer 2023 digital marketing intern Mia is up to! Mia helps lead a student organization at Iowa State University Ivy College of Business, Gerdin Leaders Academy, and last night, she helped lead their first CliftonStrengths workshop. Mia shared, “It was an enriching experience for everyone to discover, develop, and lean into their strengths. We built strong connections amongst our four small teams of students!”

Earlier this week, we had the exciting opportunity to share insights from recent research with with the world. (Like this stat -- 55% of employed Americans say they would leave their current job for one that made a greater positive impact on the world!)

Our CEO shared remarks at the "Good Business in the Age of AI" event, co-hosted by the Massachusetts Business Roundtable, Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and Bentley University. The event focused on insights from our Bentley-Gallup Business in Society Report, and what these discoveries mean for organizations and leaders. Conversations focused on Americans’ perceptions of how business is making a positive impact on society, including how much Americans trust businesses to use AI responsibly, when companies should speak out on public issues, the four-day workweek and strategies to improve employee wellbeing.

Yesterday we launched “Leading With Strengths,” the newest series from CliftonStrengths that explores how some of the best leaders around the world use their strengths to lead teams, communities, countries and more.

In the series, our CEO interviews leaders of all kinds to learn more about their unique strengths. In the photo above, he meets with Fire and Rescue Deputy Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell, a leader who played a pivotal role in helping extinguish catastrophic bush fires in Australia. We also hear from government leaders, CEOs, authors, philanthropists and more.

Yesterday our Washington, D.C. office hosted an incredible event with focused on our groundbreaking report on Black American suffering, struggling and thriving in the U.S. In partnership with Dr. N. Joyce Payne Center for Social Justice, “Black Thriving in America: 2023” examines the indicators of Black Life Experiences (BLE) drawn from decades of Gallup research. The BLE indicators track Black American life experiences across six key areas: justice; economic opportunity; education; jobs and work; health and wellbeing; and community and environment, and leverages findings from our Gallup Center on Black Voices. We’re so proud of the team that brings these insights to life, and for all the ways they’re fulfilling our mission to help people be heard.
