I started Black Rose because I saw too many incredible Dental Sleep practices struggling with the insurance side of patient care. Not because they lacked skill or passion—but because medical billing is complicated, constantly changing, and rarely taught.

"If prior authorization is approved, payment is guaranteed."

❌ Unfortunately... that's one of the biggest misconceptions in medical billing.

Prior authorization simply means the insurance company has determined the requested service meets their medical necessity criteria based on the information available at that time.

It does not guarantee payment.

A claim can still deny because of:
• Missing or incomplete documentation
• Coding errors
• Eligibility changes
• Benefit limitations or exclusions
• Coordination of benefits issues
• Timely filing requirements
• Claims processing errors

That's why obtaining prior authorization is only one piece of the puzzle.
