If your nonprofit has a small development team — or no development team at all — one of the biggest fundraising challenges is often access.

Access to the right funders.
Access to the right relationships.
Access to opportunities that larger organizations often hear about first.

That’s why we’re sharing a free fundraising resource more small nonprofits should know about: https://www.justfund.us/

JustFund is an online platform that helps connect nonprofits with foundations and donors, especially those interested in supporting community-centered, equity-focused, and social impact work.

For smaller fundraising shops, this can be a meaningful tool for increasing visibility, sharing your story more clearly, and potentially connecting with aligned funders you may not have discovered otherwise.

Because sometimes the challenge is not that your work is not strong enough.
It is that the right people have not found you yet.

At Heart for the Community Consulting, we believe the goal is not just to find more grants.
It is to build a sustainable fundraising ecosystem.

If that’s what your organization is working toward, this may be a resource worth exploring.

The words we choose matter.

In our latest blog, “Say It Differently: A Before-and-After Language Guide for Social Benefit Communicators,” we explore how small shifts in language can create more thoughtful, respectful, and effective nonprofit communication.

Too often, nonprofit messaging unintentionally centers deficit, limitation, or rescue. But when we use language rooted in dignity, identity, and possibility, we tell a fuller and more accurate story about the communities we serve.

If you want your messaging to better reflect your mission and values, this blog is worth the read.

🧠 Your words do more than explain your mission—they shape how donors understand it.

In our latest blog, “The Psychology of Framing: Why Your Words Are Literally Shaping Your Donors’ Brains,” we explore why nonprofit messaging matters so deeply.

When organizations lead only with need or struggle, they may unintentionally create distance. But when we lead with dignity, identity, and aspiration, we invite stronger connection and partnership.

If you want your messaging to be more thoughtful, effective, and donor-centered, this blog is worth the read.

Founding a nonprofit is powerful work but it should not be lonely work.

We’re grateful for voices like Darrell Holloman of WAAE who remind founders of the importance of mentorship, collaboration, and building with support.

So many nonprofit founders carry the vision, the urgency, and the responsibility all at once. But the strongest organizations are not built in isolation — they are strengthened through relationships, guidance, accountability, and community.

If you are building a nonprofit or leading a mission-driven organization, this is your reminder to seek out the people who can help you grow wisely and sustainably.

✨ Who has been a mentor, advisor, or trusted voice in your nonprofit journey? Tag them in the comments or share this with a founder who may need this reminder today.

Stop saying “we’re a nonprofit” and start saying what you actually do. 👏🏽

Your nonprofit status explains your structure—but it does not clearly communicate your impact.

People connect more deeply with:
✨ the problem you solve
✨ the people you serve
✨ the change you help create

In our latest blog, we explore why nonprofit leaders need to move beyond labels and start using language that is clearer, more compelling, and more mission-centered.

Because when people understand your work, they’re more likely to support it.
