The "Lighthouse Paradox" - have you thanked a leader today?
These days, leaders can become heroes just by doing their jobs responsibly. The swift action of some state governors, for example, will have saved countless lives by the end of this. But there’s a downside to this kind of heroism: when a leader prevents something bad from happening, it's basically impossible to measure (or fully honor) the good they’ve done. This small tragedy is called the "Lighthouse Paradox" because, when a lighthouse does its job correctly, it’s impossible to know how many ships have been saved. Nowadays, "just doing your job so that nothing goes wrong" is a valuable leadership skill! Be sure to appreciate that.
