I cannot wait!!!! YWCA South Hampton Roads has put together a POWERFUL lineup of sessions for the FIFTH annual Conference on R.E.S.T.

As many of you know, I was there in 2022 when Michelle Ellis Young first dreamed up this conference, and I was able to lead the efforts to carry out her incredible vision. We knew when we started that this conference would be a driving force for change in the region, and I am so proud to see what it has become 🧡

It's only fitting that I return for year 5 as a presenter 🧡 🧡 🧡

If you haven't purchased your tickets, the ticket link is still open so act fast!

So honored to be bringing (C) model to my peeps in the 757. See yall Wednesday!

As someone who has spent now over a decade in community organizing, youth programming & housing justice I am enraged by how "inevitable" data centers have become.

The very language that people use to get the rest of us in line is infuriating.

Because where is all the red tape for data centers? Where is all the "we need more proof"? Where is the, "let's do a pilot program first"?

HOW do these AI centers have automatic backing with billions of dollars of investment? HOW are they funded, approved & constructed, when most cities are still trying to decide if they want to allow ADUs?!

This is corporate greed. This is capitalism. This is violence.

It is abhorrent that we have organizations who have been working for over a century to end poverty or homelessness, but have been given piecemeal support to bandage the problem, just to see data centers get greenlights even without being voted on or approved by constituents.

THIS is violence against poor people, working class people, and the marginalized communities that have dealt with centuries of harm and neglect.

Very proud to announce yet another partnership with Greater Washington Community Foundation ✨️

This time, we're bringing support to nonprofit professionals who have experienced burnout and stress throughout their careers, but especially in the last several years through a pandemic and shifts in federal support.

Da Community Cookout (C) Peer Group Talk Circles are FREE monthly virtual talk circles for nonprofit professionals with a focus on burnout support and self-care for advocates; sessions will feature mental health professionals, holistic wellness providers, and other practitioners to support nonprofit professionals with overall wellness. Each session will allow for professionals to decompress, vent, and take away tangible tools for wellness in a safe and trusted environment.

Direct-support nonprofit professionals are encouraged to register for multiple sessions as we build a community of connection and trust.

If you are a nonprofit leader in the area who has been struggling with morale, staff retention & burnout are invited to send this opportunity to your teams. But register quickly as we will keep groups smaller to promote a better opportunity for deeper connection.

Very excited to be expanding the model into a peer-support virtual series very soon.

Be on the lookout for links for registration very soon!

For anyone else interested in chatting about how to build in your neighborhood, let's chat!

Da Community Cookout (C) is a localized and intentional community development series, where members of historically marginalized populations can gather in the safe and trusted environments of privately curated cookouts that encourage intentional gathering, radical resourcing, and information sharing. Insights and data from the event series can be used to partner with developers, nonprofit organizations, and policymakers on what the specific cultural and structural needs are in historically marginalized communities.

At Da Community Cookout, guests will enjoy great music, food, and games. But we’ll also learn about financial wellness, legacy planning, gardening, and much more! The goal is to leave the hangout with more than a hangover! Tangible resources with trusted partners in an event-series platform, allows for members in these populations to develop better trust and rapport with institutions where they have historically felt left out and neglected.

On the Hunt Consulting, LLC presents Da Community Cookout (C) 2025 - Leave the hangout with more than a hangover! *I do not own the rights to this music*

Had the opportunity these past few months to serve as the Event Director for the Jennifer Clancy- Candidate for Delegate, Maryland 29A Kickoff Fundraiser.

I was so honored to be given this opportunity. Utilizing all of my skills as an event planner, community advocate, and non-profit professional, we executed an event that brought in over $20K!

I felt humbled to receive such positive feedback about the event, but particularly from the folks who helped behind the scenes about how organized everything was.

It was truly a magical evening, and I know that this is won't be the last opportunity to work with some great campaigns.
