Yolanda has built a stellar reputation as a resourceful journalist and media consultant. Her areas of expertise include planning communications strategy, media relations, social media, media training, writing for broadcast television and online media along with field production. As a journalist at NBC News’ Washington bureau, Yolanda prod
uced stories for Dateline NBC, Nightly News with Brian Williams, MSNBC, Today, NBC Insider Reports, Channel One News, and Your Total Health. Her journalistic work has been honored with an Emmy nomination, the Edward R. Yolanda began to integrate her journalism skills with other aspects of the communications field when she accepted an invitation to serve on the Board of Directors of the Ithemba Foundation, as the Director of Public Relations. Ithemba is a U.S. based nonprofit that funds educational programs for disadvantaged youth in South Africa. At Ithemba, Yolanda created the foundation’s communications strategy, marketing materials and was integral in establishing the foundation’s partnership with the Embassy of South Africa and the launch of the foundation’s fundraiser ‘A Taste of South Africa.’ She continued her work with nonprofits by working as a media relations consultant for Tamika and Friends, Inc. a national advocacy and education foundation that focuses on treatment and prevention of cervical cancer. Yolanda also works as a media consultant for the
T. Howard Foundation whose mission is to serve as a resource for diversifying the ranks of the multimedia and entertainment industry. PR, media and culture are among Yolanda’s passions. She brings this knowledge and her career experience to each client and expertly applies it to their individual needs. Yolanda has written articles published in D.C. Style and South Carolina Woman magazines. She received her bachelor's degree in Mass Media Arts (Broadcast Journalism) from Hampton University and master's in Journalism and Public Affairs (News Media Studies) from American University.
