The Supreme Court received a flood of legal briefs Wednesday concerning Texas' six-week abortion ban, which has rendered Roe v. Wade a dead letter in the country's second largest state, in advance of next week's oral arguments.

When was the last time you heard someone say, β€œI’d rather clean toilets than do my taxes!” I totally get it. It is one of the least pleasant things anyone has to do, but that’s just it: YOU HAVE TO DO IT. So instead of making it the task that you put off and put off and put off until it becomes herculean and utterly terrifying, why not start now, two months before taxes are due, and plan it out. Sharing my tips for tax season organization on the blog today - link in bio!

We're officially one week into the new year and while some of us are well on track with our resolutions - hitting the gym everyday, waking up early, ditching sugar, - many of us are still working on our goals for the year or simply going in with an open mind. I've always loved goal setting and giving myself a target to work towards and one of the strategies I've found to work best when doing so is starting small and creating habits. When we break down our big goals or resolutions into smaller benchmarks and give ourselves the time and grace to actually create habits, they often become more attainable and engrained into our lifestyle vs. boxes to tick off the list. When it comes to organizing there are a few habits I always suggest getting into practice:
+ Spend 30 seconds now to save hours later β€” when you're holding something, decide where it goes right away instead of piling it somewhere and having to spend more time putting things away when you're feeling more motivated.
+ Move your castoffs to the car β€” designate a box in your trunk for items you're ready to off-load. When it's full, it's already in your car ready to be dropped off at the local donation center.
+ Trick yourself with treats β€” attach a reward to a tedious task to motivate you to get it done. Maybe a pedicure once the garage is organized or an episode on Netflix once the laundry is folded and put away?
Whatever it is you're working towards first, just remember to give yourself the time to really put it into practice. They say it takes 21 days to create a lasting habit so give it a try. What habits are you hoping to create in 2019?

It's been a few days since the holiday weekend and whether you spent it at the beach, city sightseeing, in the mountains, wherever, you eventually came home - to unpacking, laundry and of course THE MAIL. Piles and piles of paper, waiting to swallow you up even when you've unsubscribed, opted for paperless, and "gone green". It can seem daunting and setting it aside to deal with later can seem like the most attractive option. BUT, if you break it up into quick 5 minute bursts, managing the mail can be quite simple. β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
β€”
First, get yourself a large recyclable bag to sort all of your junk mail - flyers, investment summaries, catalogues, coupons, etc. If you still read the news in paper version, as I like to do, those too will go into the recycling, but sans plastic bag (those can be recycled at your grocery store!).
β€”
Second, get yourself another recyclable bag to sort everything that needs to be shredded - the second and third pages of any accounts that have a number, name, or other important information on them. Collect this type of mail until you are ready to either sit and use a personal shredder, take to a shredding center (localities around the country have FREE shredding days), or take to a UPS or FEDEX and they will charge you by weight.
β€”
Once you've sorted your two bags, you've now likely whittled down 70% of the mail that came in and are left with bills, invitations, magazines, and any other correspondence that deserves your time and attention.

Take five minutes at the end of your day to do this one thing: put everything you used throughout the day back in it's proper home. That means laptops back to briefcases or home offices, homework back into backpacks, umbrella and coats in the closet. Not only will you finish the day with a win, but you'll start the next organized and off on the right foot. β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
