Ed Emcee Academy Educational consulting for belonging, equity, & justice from a Hip-Hop & spoken word perspective.

We are Hip-Hop educational leaders specializing in poetry, spoken word, and rap as critical literacies. Our Core Services: commissioning poems, featuring spoken word performances, facilitating writing and performance workshops, hosting open mics and judge poetry slams, and coaching poets, spoken word artists, and educators. We serve schools, colleges, universities, community-based organizations, n

on-profits, museums, libraries, correctional facilities, detention centers, and businesses bent towards racial justice, literary arts, student learning, leadership, engagement, and teacher professional development. Special Projects: we work with clients on unique and innovative ideas that reflect our team’s diverse talents and expertise, which include:

- performing a “poetic lecture” about anti-racism and Hip Hop pedagogy for a national teachers association.
- serving as a 3-day resident teaching artist at an elementary school.
- developing content for a national museum beacon for young learners about “hate speech”.
- creating a website that functions as a digital archive of youth poetry. Our team includes artists with backgrounds in youth development, student learning and & engagement.

y'all, I am very proud to share that Ed Emcee Academy has been rocking out our residency at GW Multicultural Student Services Center (MSSC) this Spring semester - we've launched "The Cypher" spoken word poet open mic, installed two exhibits: 1) "Red Line" -- mixed media artwork on canvas by THE Blu Murphy (who also did my album cover) that highlights educational inequities and 2) "From Recs to. Classrooms: Hip Hop's 50-year Impact of the field of education (cc: Toby Jenkins-Henry+ University of South Carolina's Museum of Education. We also recently hosted "At the Margins" -- a community discussion about all of the things. Shout out GW Today for memorializing this moment for us Jordan Shelby West for the layup!

y’all, we are thrilled to announce the launch of www.edemcees.com!!!

It’s been quite a journey translating Tony Keith Jr.’s dissertation and our ongoing research into a website that also includes a FREE database full of stories about the lives of educators who are poets, rappers, spoken word artists, and mc’s!

we’re still uploading lots of data to the site, so there’s more to come! let us know what you think!
