Now is not the time to shy away from bold, innovative tax policy to address a shrinking budget due to Congressional interference. With significant cuts looming to this year’s budget and a potential delay in tax collections, we must explore options that the Mayor and Council have been unwilling to try, including revenue raisers and raising taxes for DC’s wealthiest, so that we can restore progressive tax policies like the Child Tax Credit.
