"It could not be more urgent to support all those working for nuclear disarmament..."
— Caroline Lucas

With the regime of hard-fought safeguards coming under increasing pressure, the threat of nuclear war is dangerously real. We must honor and stand alongside the courageous survivors who continue using their voices to warn the world.

Supporting peace and advocating for nuclear disarmament isn't a political stance — it's a necessity for our shared future.

We're announcing our next endorsee for the 2026 election cycle!

Former Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) is running again because too many politicians are rigging the system to help themselves and the billionaires who are making massive profits at our expense. Council for a Livable World has endorsed Sen. Brown in all of his Senate races so far and is proud to endorse Sen. Brown again as he fights to reclaim his seat at the table. Sen. Brown was a strong voice on Council issues during his time in the Senate. He voted in favor of ratifying the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START), called for increased diplomacy to prevent a renewed nuclear arms race and advocated against increasing the number of U.S. deployed nuclear weapons.

We're announcing our next endorsee for the 2026 election cycle!

Zach Dembo (KY-06) is a ninth-generation Kentuckian who hopes to flip this open seat. This is a R+7 district that President Trump carried by double digits in 2024, but Governor Andy Beshear, Dembo’s former boss who is fully behind his campaign, won this district by 20 points in 2023. After graduating from Stanford University, Zach taught middle school English in rural classrooms, commissioned as a Navy JAG officer and was a top policy advisor in Gov. Beshear’s administration before becoming a federal prosecutor. He later resigned from his position as a federal prosecutor in 2025 when he saw corruption firsthand in the Department of Justice. On Council issues, Dembo criticized President Trump’s war of choice in Iran, favors diplomacy over conflict in U.S. foreign policy and aims to connect rural Kentuckians to the many ways that Kentucky is impacted by foreign policy.

We're announcing our next endorsee for the 2026 election cycle!

Dr. Herb Conaway is running for reelection in NJ-03, the district he took over from Sen. Andy Kim (D-NJ) in 2024. Dr. Conaway began his career serving in the U.S. Air Force as a Captain in the Medical Corps. Dr. Conaway also served as an Assemblyman in the New Jersey Legislature for 25 years where he served on the Health, Budget and Military and Veterans Affairs Committees. On Council issues, Dr. Conaway co-sponsored the “No Funds for Iran War Act” which prohibits the use of taxpayer dollars for military action against Iran in the absence of an Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) or official declaration of war. In addition to serving on the House Armed Services Committee, Dr. Conaway also voted in favor of a $150 billion cut to the exorbitant Pentagon budget and supported much needed oversight of plutonium pit production.

We're announcing our next endorsee for the 2026 election cycle!

Jonathan Nez (D-AZ-02) is running again to unseat incumbent Rep. Eli Crane (R). Nez previously served as President of the Navajo Nation from 2019-2023 and led the Navajo people throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. He has a proven bipartisan track record which included working with his Republican Vice President to lead the Navajo Nation. Fighting back against reckless nuclear weapons policy is personal for Nez, as he has seen first-hand how uranium mining contaminated Navajo tribal land from 1942 to 1985 as part of the Manhattan Project and subsequent programs. He has also publicly criticized the war in Iran and its impact on the American people.
