In , where the epidemic continues to wear on the country's health system, we are working to establish a -driven, optimized system that will generate scalable models to transform HIV prevention across the region through the Blantyre Prevention Strategy (BPS) project.

Last week, our lead data scientist and colleagues from Compelling.Works trained staff from the Blantyre District Health Office, Malawi Government, Ministry Of Health - Malawi, Malawi National AIDS Commission, Population Services International - Malawi, and MaiKhanda Trust on PALMS, the Prevention Adaptive Learning and Management System.

PALMS brings together all HIV/AIDS prevention data for the district in user-friendly dashboards, giving health workers new and deeper visibility into their data and helping them make better, more informed, decisions.

Cooper/Smith is a technical assistance organization focused on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of development programs worldwide. We work with host country governments and development organizations to assemble and analyze complex information, translating data into meaningful solutions that have lasting effect. We are a growing start-up that operates at the intersection of health and data, providing expertise in economics, decision analysis, results management, program evaluation, research design, health policy, and software development.

Our funders include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The Global Fund, the World Bank, USAID, the United Nations, DIAL, the Digital Impact Alliance, and Georgetown University. Founded in 2014, our solutions have supported more than 20 projects in a dozen countries throughout Africa and Asia.

Cooper/Smith is currently seeking a Junior Data Scientist with experience in Program Coordination to work with our technical and program management team. This role will be dynamic, focusing on addressing priority research questions and testing relationships across disparate sources of data and systems, while also supporting the daily implementation activities of Cooper/Smith projects.

Duration: This is a full-time, long-term, exempt position.

Location: Washington, D.C. (remote location a possibility) with up to 20-30% international travel.

Hard to believe it's been five years since our co-founders Hannah Cooper Klein and Tyler Smith shared a vision for an organization that would do development differently and started Cooper/Smith.

Today, with the support of Gates Foundation, USAID - US Agency for International Development, UNICEF, Digital Impact Alliance - DIAL and Georgetown University, their vision has taken hold in Malawi, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Rwanda, Thailand, Indonesia and more. Our team is driving change throughout the world with hard data, innovative analysis, and country-led collaboration.
