Peace Officers Memorial Day is held each year on May 15th in observance of all law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. At the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, we honor the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect their communities and the families and friends of the fallen who have had to grieve their absences. May we remember them, not only for their sacrifice, but also for their service, courage, dedication, and the positive impacts they had on their communities.

Some wore the badge for only a short time.
Some gave decades of service.
But every fallen officer gave something few truly understand
their life in service to others.

They answered calls in the darkest hours,
stood between danger and the innocent,
missed holidays, birthdays, and family dinners
so someone else could make it home safely.

Behind every badge is a family that served too.
A spouse who worried.
Children who waited.
Parents who prayed.
Friends and communities forever changed.

During Police Week, we pause to honor the heroes who never came home
and the families who continue carrying their legacy forward with strength and grace.

Their sacrifice should never be forgotten.
Their names should never fade.
Their honor deserves more than one week
it deserves a lifetime of remembrance.

To every fallen officer:
We remember you.
We honor you.
We thank you.

And to the families left behind
your pain is seen, your sacrifice matters,
and your loved one’s legacy continues to inspire generations.

Happy St. Patrick's day Washmo! If you celebrate today with some adult beverages, make good choices. Stay warm and stay safe.
May you have the hindsight to remember where you've been, the foresight to know where you're going, and the pure Irish insight to realize that an Uber is a whole lot cheaper than a lawyer.
May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, and may your rearview mirror be free of flashing red and blue lights!..And to anyone who ignores that and drives impaired anyway: May your luck run out, your arrest be swift, and your stay in the Municipal Jail be an eye opener into making better choices!

In Loving Memory of Det. Sgt. Mason Griffith 💙
Three years.
Three years of missing Mason’s smile, his leadership, and the quiet strength he carried into every room. Three years of wishing we could hear his voice again, see him walk through the door, or watch him do what he did best—serve others without ever asking for recognition.
Mason lived a life of selfless giving. Whether it was helping a fellow officer, supporting a family in need, or protecting the community he loved, he always showed up. He believed in people. He believed in service. And he believed that when times are hard, you step forward—not back.
These past three years have been filled with both heartbreak and purpose. While the pain of losing Mason never fades, we continue working every day to carry forward the spirit of generosity and compassion that defined his life.
Through The Chief Mason Griffith Foundation, we strive to honor Mason by doing what he would still be doing today—standing beside first responders and their families when they need it most.
Some days we wonder if we can keep up with the level of selfless giving Mason was known for. But then we remember: Mason never expected one person to do it alone. He believed in community. He believed in people coming together.
And that’s exactly what has happened.
Because of all of you, Mason’s legacy continues to live on in every act of kindness, every family supported, and every first responder reminded that they are never alone.
Mason may be gone from our sight, but his mission lives on in all of us.
We miss you every day, Mason.
Your watch may have ended, but your legacy continues.
💙 Forever remembered. Forever honored. Forever our hero.

🚒 Apparatus Spotlight: 8212
Our 1998 Pierce 75’ Ladder has been a valuable part of our fleet since we took possession of it in 2013. While it currently serves as a support apparatus, it remains ready to respond whenever it’s needed.
This truck features a 75-foot aerial ladder, 6 ground ladders, 1500 GPM pump, and carries 500 gallons of water, giving our crews the ability to reach elevated areas, assist with rescues, perform ventilation, and support firefighting operations.
Being one of only four ladder trucks in Franklin County, this apparatus plays an important role in ensuring our district has the capability to handle a wide range of emergencies.
We’re proud to keep this truck ready to serve our community when called upon. 🚒
