This morning, a Durham (NC) firefighter was killed at a building fire in the 400 block of Marly Road. Two other firefighters were injured but are expected to be okay. No other additional or official details have been released, reports WRAL.

A firefighter was injured after a vehicle struck a rescue truck being used to help shut down I-587 during an emergency response Sunday.

Farmville Fire says Fountain Rural Fire Association Rescue 5406 was assisting at another crash when it was struck. Bell Arthur Fire says the firefighter and the other driver were both injured.

Firefighters are urging drivers to slow down, eliminate distractions and pay close attention when approaching emergency scenes.

"We have families who want us to return home safely. Please don't be the reason we don't."
