Root cause analysis, in plain terms.

A user cannot log in. The quick fix is to reset the session and move on. Ticket closed, everyone is happy until Thursday.

Root cause analysis asks the next question. Why did the session break? A sync job had been failing quietly for three weeks. Why was it failing? A credential expired and nothing was watching it. Why was nothing watching it? It never got added to monitoring when the system went in.

Now there is something real to fix, and fixing it removes a whole class of future tickets.

That takes longer on the day. It is the reason our clients call us less in year two than in year one.

Most of our work happens on days when nothing is broken.

Patches tested and rolled out before something fails. Backups restored in a test to prove they really restore. Certificates and licenses renewed a month early. Alerts tuned so the quiet ones still get looked at. Documentation updated so the next person is not guessing.

It makes for a boring status report and a week where your team just works.

When something does break, we chase the cause until we find it, and we write down what changed so the same problem has to find a new way in.

The thing our clients notice first is the phone ringing less.

One question tells you a lot about an IT provider.

Ask them: for your longest-running client, how many support tickets did they open last year compared to the year before?

A provider doing prevention work can answer it, and the number goes down. Systems get patched before they fail, the causes of repeat problems get removed, and the reasons to call shrink year over year.

A provider who has never measured it will change the subject to how quickly they answer the phone.

The ticket count is the honest scoreboard. It is hard to fake, and it points at the outcome that actually matters to you: less of your week spent on technology that should already be working.

Here is the question worth asking any IT provider: when a problem gets fixed, does it stay fixed?

That is the part that is hard to measure, and it is the part that decides whether your team spends its week on your business or on the same recurring issue.

Our answer is built in three pieces. We prevent what we can, so most problems never reach your team. We find the root cause on what does get through, so it stops repeating. And after anything significant we write up what happened, what changed, and what that change prevents.

Over a year with us, the pattern shows up in the ticket count. The calls go down.

Transparent pricing, published processes, named technicians. That is what IT support looks like when the provider has nothing to hide.
