"Think you don't have roaches because you've never seen one?"

This American cockroach was nearly the size of my thumb.

The good news? Finding one outside isn't unusual.

The bad news? When large roaches start showing up around foundations, garages, irrigation boxes, or entry points, they can eventually find their way indoors—especially as temperatures change or moisture becomes available.

A single roach doesn't always mean you have an infestation, but it does mean conditions around the property may be attracting them.

At Western Pest Control, we help homeowners identify the why behind pest activity—not just spray and leave.

✅ Foundation inspections
✅ Exterior pest barriers
✅ Entry-point identification
✅ Ongoing protection plans

If you're seeing large roaches, scorpions, ants, or other pests around your home, now is the time to address them before they become an indoor problem.

What's living inside your walls?

It's a question most homeowners never think about.

Until they hear scratching in the middle of the night.

Or find droppings in the garage.

Or discover that something has been chewing on wiring, insulation, or even water lines.

The reality is that many pest problems start where homeowners can't see them:

• Rodents nesting in attics and wall voids
• Ant colonies hidden behind sheetrock
• Roaches living inside wall cavities
• Termites silently feeding on structural wood
• Scorpions finding shelter in cool, protected spaces

The scary part?

Most serious infestations begin long before a homeowner ever sees a pest.

By the time you notice the warning signs, the problem may have already been developing for weeks, months, or even years.

That's why inspections matter.

At Western Pest Control, we don't just treat visible pests. We look for entry points, conducive conditions, nesting areas, moisture issues, and early warning signs that most people would never notice.

Because the best pest problem is the one that never becomes a problem in the first place.

If it's been a while since your home has had a professional inspection, now is a great time.

We’ve had quite a few conversations lately with homeowners who were told at the door that their current pest control company “doesn’t cover” certain pests, “doesn’t treat” certain areas, or “can’t handle” specific problems.

And in many cases… that simply isn’t true.

The reality is, pest control is not one-size-fits-all. Different companies may use different products, strategies, schedules, or service structures — but that doesn’t mean a problem is being ignored or that a service “can’t” be performed.

At Western Pest Control, we’ve been protecting homes and businesses in Southern Utah for 25 years. During that time, we’ve treated just about everything our desert environment can throw at us:
• Scorpions
• Rodents
• Ants
• Spiders
• Roaches
• Bed bugs
• Termites
• Wasps
• Wildlife concerns
• And much more

One thing that also makes Western different is that we do not employ traditional door-to-door sales teams.

Our pest professionals are the ones performing inspections, identifying issues, recommending solutions, and servicing the property. That matters.

Because the person making recommendations to the homeowner is also the person responsible for helping deliver results afterward.

We believe pest control should be built around:
• Thorough inspections
• Honest communication
• Realistic expectations
• Proper treatment plans
• Long-term solutions — not high-pressure sales tactics

Anyone can promise the world at the front door.
The real question is whether those promises can consistently be delivered after the paperwork is signed.

We’re not interested in tearing down other companies. We simply believe customers deserve accurate information so they can make informed decisions about protecting their home and family.

If you ever have questions about what is — or isn’t — covered in your current pest control service, we’re always happy to provide a second opinion or answer questions honestly.

This picture says a lot.

What you’re looking at is an interior rodent monitoring station — commonly called a “tin cat.” Its job is to monitor and help control rodent activity inside a commercial facility.

Instead, it’s being used as a door stop.

It’s crushed, ineffective, and no longer functioning as a monitoring device. Worse yet, it’s now helping create a gap that can allow rodents to move freely in and out of the building.

This is exactly the kind of thing that happens when pest control becomes all about price and not about quality, training, accountability, or attention to detail.

Cheap pest control often looks fine on paper:

✔️ Lower monthly cost
✔️ Quick service visits
✔️ Simple invoices

But behind the scenes, corners get cut:

• Monitoring devices aren’t maintained
• Documentation gets rushed or skipped
• Entry points go unnoticed
• Problems are “checked off” instead of solved
• Technicians are pushed too fast to properly inspect

And eventually, somebody pays for it:

• Failed audits
• Rodent activity
• Customer complaints
• Product contamination
• Property damage
• Reputation loss

Good pest control is preventative.

It’s detailed.
It’s consistent.
It’s professional.

At Western Pest Control, we believe experience matters. Thorough inspections matter. Proper documentation matters. And details like this absolutely matter.

Because when it comes to protecting a facility, “good enough” usually isn’t.

Most people think bed bugs are only found in “dirty” places.

That’s one of the biggest misconceptions we run into.

The truth is, bed bugs are hitchhikers — not sanitation pests.
They travel by attaching themselves to luggage, clothing, furniture, backpacks, and personal belongings. That means even the cleanest hotels, Airbnbs, medical facilities, apartments, or homes can become targets if a bed bug is unknowingly brought inside.

And once they’re established, they spread fast.

A few important things about bed bugs:
• They’re excellent at hiding in tiny cracks and seams
• They typically feed at night while people sleep
• Early infestations are often hard to detect
• They can quickly move room-to-room in multi-unit properties
• One introduction can turn into a major reputation issue for hospitality businesses

That’s why prevention matters.

At Western Pest Control, we offer our Bed Bug Shield Program — a proactive yearly preventative treatment designed to help reduce the risk of bed bug introductions before they become costly infestations.

This program is ideal for:
✔️ Hotels & Resorts
✔️ Airbnbs & Vacation Rentals
✔️ Medical Facilities
✔️ Apartments & Multi-Housing
✔️ Student Housing
✔️ Any property with frequent guest turnover

Prevention is almost always easier, less disruptive, and less expensive than dealing with a full-scale bed bug infestation after the fact.

If you manage a property and want to learn more about preventative bed bug protection, we’d be happy to talk through options with you.

Most people only notice pest control when there’s a problem.

What they don’t always see is the amount of work, detail, and dedication that goes into preventing those problems in the first place.

This is Scott — one of our pest professionals — de-webbing a massive multi-story property here in Southern Utah. And yes… that pole really is that tall.

A lot of pest control happens behind the scenes:

• Reaching difficult areas
• Spotting early signs before they become infestations
• Taking the extra time to do things correctly
• Making properties look and feel cared for

It’s easy to overlook details when nobody is watching.
But those details are exactly what separate average service from great service.

Scott consistently goes above and beyond for our customers, and this picture is a great example of the pride and work ethic our team brings every day. Huge appreciation for the effort our technicians put in — especially during the Southern Utah heat.

At Western Pest Control, we believe protecting a property is about more than just eliminating pests. It’s about
professionalism, consistency, attention to detail, and showing up ready to solve problems the right way.

Great work, Scott. 👏

“Cheap pest control” usually isn’t cheap.
It’s delayed expensive.

We see it all the time:

A property chooses the lowest bid.
Service gets rushed.
Corners get cut.
Problems get ignored.

Then a few months later:
• Tenants are upset
• Residents are posting online
• Callbacks stack up
• Maintenance teams get overwhelmed
• Infestations get worse instead of better

In pest control, price matters.
But so does time on site.
So does technician experience.
So does consistency.
So does accountability.

A company charging rock-bottom pricing on large apartment complexes, HOAs, restaurants, or commercial properties has to make that money back somewhere — and usually that means less time spent actually solving problems.

Real pest control takes:
✔️ Thorough inspections
✔️ Follow-up
✔️ Proper materials
✔️ Documentation
✔️ Communication
✔️ Experienced technicians who know what they’re looking at

For 25 years, Western Pest Control has built its reputation by focusing on long-term solutions instead of quick shortcuts.

Because at the end of the day, nobody remembers who was cheapest.
They remember who actually solved the problem.

Not every rodent problem starts with seeing a rat.

Sometimes it starts with this.

Rodent droppings are one of the first warning signs that mice or rats are actively living, feeding, and traveling inside a home or business. And while they may look small, the risks tied to rodents are anything but.

Beyond the obvious sanitation concerns, rodents can:

• Contaminate food preparation and storage areas
• Spread bacteria and disease through urine and droppings
• Trigger allergies and respiratory issues
• Damage insulation, drywall, and stored items
• Chew electrical wiring — creating real fire hazards
• Chew through water lines and plumbing components, leading to leaks and costly water damage
• Reproduce quickly, turning a small issue into a major infestation fast

One of the biggest mistakes we see is waiting too long to act. By the time droppings become noticeable, rodents have often already established nesting and travel patterns inside the structure.

At Western Pest Control, we focus on more than just trapping rodents. We work to identify entry points, pressure areas, nesting activity, and long-term exclusion opportunities to help solve the problem correctly.

If you’re seeing signs like this around your home, garage, attic, storage room, or commercial property, it’s worth getting it checked sooner rather than later.

Twelve years ago, this was my office.

One truck. One route. Long days. A lot to learn.

Back in 2014, I never could’ve imagined where the journey with Western Pest Control would lead. What started as learning how to solve pest problems and take care of customers turned into something much bigger — growth as a technician, growth as a leader, and growth as a person.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside incredible technicians, managers, office staff, and customers who helped shape me every step of the way. I’ve learned that pest control is about far more than spraying bugs. It’s about protecting homes, businesses, reputations, families, and peace of mind.

I’ve watched Western Pest Control evolve into something truly special. Better technology. Better training. Better systems. More services. More opportunities. But through all the growth, one thing has stayed the same: genuinely caring about people and doing things the right way.

I’m incredibly grateful to Western Pest Control for believing in me, investing in me, and giving me opportunities to grow over the last 12 years. And to our customers — thank you for trusting us year after year. Your support has helped build this company into what it is today.

Looking back at this truck brings a lot of memories… but honestly, it also makes me excited for what’s ahead.

The future is bright, and we’re just getting started.
