Part 1:
Blogging basics. Why should I blog? How difficult is it REALLY?
In a previous post I mentioned that many of my conversations lately have been about blogging and the perception that it is difficult. I understand for small business owners (whom I’ve mostly been talking with) that blogging is just one more thing to add to the list of hats they wear.
However, it doesn’t need to be an in-depth endeavor if you get organized whether you’re a small business owner, a start up business, want to share your knowledge on a particular subject or to keep family updated.
Some examples of bloggers would be my friend Miles (apt, I know) who’s been traveling the world on bicycle and foot for almost four years now. His blog was to keep family and friends apprised of his travels and assure us he was ok. Another friend started a blog to help other mothers with high IQ children learn to keep up intellectually with their kids as well as deal with behavior caused by boredom on their kids part. I not only have this blog, but also blog about food and Alaska, two of my favorite things. When I worked for an Apple Reseller, we had a blog to connect to our customers that gave class times, sales, repair information, question of the week answers, and much more. Do you see where I’m going with this?
The first thing to decide is WHY you want to blog and WHAT you want to accomplish with your blog. The WHY should always be the same, you want to CONNECT with people. The WHAT can be many things, impart knowledge, let family keep up with you, sell products, build social proof you are the expert, or dispense information to your team.
Anyone can blog if you have 10-20 minutes a day. If you have questions on any of the above information please message me or email me at [email protected]. I love answering questions.
Next time, some things that organized me so I can blog each day or semi-daily.
Happy blogging!
