Mission-driven work is where our hearts are, and this one was a big one.

Park Foundation, based in Ithaca, New York, works toward a more just, fair, and sustainable world. They give around $26 million a year to more than 300 organizations working on everything from voting rights and the environment to animal welfare and school food. 🌱🗳️🐾

With that much going on, the website had a big job. It had to tell their story, explain eight different funding areas, and help grant seekers find exactly what they need, without anyone getting lost.

What the site does well:
- Simple, clear menus: Who We Are, Funding Priorities, Grants, and Mission Aligned Investing
- An interactive timeline of the foundation's history
- Funding stories that show real-world impact
- Easy-to-find resources for applicants, like FAQs and deadlines

One of our favorite lines from founder Roy Park: "Look for opportunity more than security and stability." 🙌 We couldn't agree more.

We’re going local here at Alpine Design! I had the pleasure of joining the Wasilla Chamber Wasilla Chamber of Commerce today at Small Business Bites to learn about how local businesses should be using LinkedIn! 🙌 Also got a facility tour of the Lakehouse at Lucille straight from the owner — you MUST check these out. A few tips on why LinkedIn matters for small businesses):

📌 Google and AI are watching you! 👀Google yourself. What comes up? If you’re LinkedIn profile doesn’t match what you do, it’s time for an update (I’m pointing at myself here!)
📌 Ditch the job title, write a one-liner with actual personality
📌 Real local photos beat logos or AI-generated ones every time
📌 Easy post ideas: share an industry tip, ask a question, or show off your finished work.
📌 Comments count — a few minutes a week supporting other local businesses builds real reach

🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ One of the hardest things to explain is the value of good design until you see the damage of bad design.

This is USAA's homepage. One of the most trusted financial brands in the country. I logged on this morning and just thought 🤦‍♀️. Please tell me their in a transition phase.

Here's how this meeting probably went:

CEO: "We need to represent every branch of the military, list all of our services above the fold."

Creative team: takes marching orders

Result: A cluttered hero, competing CTAs, mismatched blues, and text nobody is reading.

You have 3 seconds to capture a user's attention. This spends all 3 of them overwhelming them.

We don't intend to call people out, the goal is to educate through example. It's very difficult to explain a decade worth of design education and digital user behavior psychology

The engagement will drop. They will wonder why. They will have have countless meetings and throw more marketing $$ dollars at it, all while design holds the keys to the answer. 🔑🔑

🙌🙌🙌🌊🏖️ High fives all the way around!
Beach Painting & Construction booked a half-day content shoot with us — 4-6 hours on site capturing content for their website, social, and ads. We provided a full plan for the day, pre-drafted scripts for video and worked with the owner to refine everything beforehand. We had the best time with their team. The hardest part typically isn’t the camera work, it’s helping people feel comfortable when this isn’t something they do everyday. Some folks thrive with candid, in-the-moment shots. Others do better with a clear plan and direction. We try to read the room and meet people where they are. We have fun with ice breaker questions 🤪 Lots of laughs, lots of great content. A hugely successful day! 🌊🏖️

😩💎🤩 Posting about my work does NOT come naturally to me. I know I need to in order to grow, but it’s such a hurdle — it feels self-promoting and gross 🤢And blasting my feed with my own face is enough to make me want to go hide in the bushes for a week. 🫣

It’s the same thing so many of my clients struggle with. I 100% get it — I’m a work in progress myself. We’re in this together. (One hack: just hire someone else to do it for you. Quick fix to all the baggage 🤪)

For now, I’ll stick to what I’m good at and what comes naturally — gratitude.

So here’s that: I am so thankful for the incredible humans and businesses I get to collaborate with. Every single one is a company I believe in — doing good work, adding real value, and leading with integrity. And I LOVE that I get to support them. Seriously gives me chills. 💛

My clients aren’t just mission-driven businesses. They’re your contractors, realtors, schools, and more — but they all lead with intention and genuinely care about their clients and what they put out into the world. (That’s where we come in!)

We don’t work with crappy people and we don’t put crap out into the world. Firm.

We’re selective about who we work with. We only work with kind people who are delivering real value. 💛
