Everybody that like, watch or love birds, please don't take down your feeders because of the bad weather or you think the season is over for bird watching. Right now is the most important time to put up or keep your feeders full. Yes, a lot of birds are going other places but you would be amazed on how many birds are still in your area. Birds need your help during cold weather. So many don't survive the could because of the lack of food during this time of year. Food keeps there bodies warm in those bushes and trees they sleep in. So, keep them up and full during these times. And yes, I am going to push the Defender Bird Feeder for those who have feeders that can't handle the weather like freezing rain, snow, blizzards and yes going from warm to cold can destroy most feeders but not the Defender Bird Feeder. Again by putting in imitation plants and flowers during winter makes the feeder like a light house does for sailors, it shows birds where they can find food. And the hanger is strong enough for any weather. It can hold 150 lbs. of pressure in any weather. Its not the weight but the strength it has, is why its in with the Defender. The Planter doesn't have drainage because it doesn't need it. It was developed as is because the size was developed to exactly have the evaporation rate to accrue just for what a plant needs in wet weather (using the planter container provided with the Defender). Yet, in hot weather extra watering maybe needed, not the other way around, your plant won't drown using the Defender Bird Feeder's planter. Don't except the old school thought that only containers with drainage can keep plants alive. Our Planter is a holder for a draining plant container. Again keep your feeders full and you can see and enjoy the birds still in your area all winter and you will keep them alive too! Helpful Hints for Your New Defender

#1. Hang your Defender Feeder anywhere with this in mind, keep the edge of protective shield a minimum 12” from any vertical surface (wall/tree trunk/pole/etc.) so Squirrels are not able to just lean over to feeder plate.
#2. Birds will peck & pull seeds from the Defender’s feeder holes, you really do not want seed to just flow out of bird feeder holes, this is just wasting expensive bird food. Our opinion at Defender Bird Feeder, many feeders are designed with large feeding holes, so customers will buy more & more bird food - believing it is being eaten by birds.
#3. Keep protective shield clean of sap and/or anything a squirrel can hold on to.
#4. Imitation or Real foliage should also be to where - squirrels cannot be able hang below the protective dome. Squirrels back feet cannot be able to hold onto anything after the top planters edge.
#5. Try not to use whole peanuts or large corn seeds. Other seeds can be backed up in seed container.
#6. Our experience has shown that birds can take up to 3 - 10 days to negotiate with the Defender’s protective shield, not to worry birds figure it out fast.
#7. Attach your Defender’s hanger to your *branch/hook/hanger pole/shepherds hook and with extra securing at the attach point *, the Defender will handle severe winds up to 70mph. This will secure it in place from-> raccoons/possum/dear/etc.

We were glad to see that bird loves are growing out there. At the Watermelon Carnival in Water Valley, MS we talked to so many people who see birds as being important to our environment. We also enlightened a lot of soon to be new bird watchers, on how wonderful birds are, not just in beauty but of their importance. As you know and maybe you do not know, if you bring birds to your vegetable garden/yard/flower gardens they will flourish. Birds eat destructive insects plus cross pollinate your flowers, so bring the birds to you. If you are under stress, bring the birds to you and watch them for a little while and watch at the same time, your stress will drop too. There are many papers written on this subject. The Defender Bird Feeder was designed to bring birds to you & many varieties that you don't see now. So many birds stay hidden - the Defender attracts them out of hiding, so enjoy them too.

Bird watchers with feeders out there Think about how much bird feed your wasting. Also clean your feeders regular if your seed is getting wet. Rotting seed can cause birds to get sick and die, plus pass disease on to other birds. Birds are sensitive to there environment so stay up with your feeders. Get feeders that have small holes - birds will pull the seeds out of holes, as they do when they pick seeds off plants/flowers. You don't need big holes in your feeder. If you seed large amounts of seed pouring into a tray - it is being wasted. Birds scatter it out and to the ground - Seed companies love that it gets wasted. You just buy more. Yes I am suggesting the Defender bird feeder, I designed it for birds and to keep them happy & healthy. Quit wasting good money on seed and put it into Bird Conservation help organizations, like the National Audubon Society.
