Binford Watkins Turnage, 88, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2026, at home surrounded by his family. A visitation will be held Friday, October 16, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Mr. Binnie’s life will be Saturday, October 17, 2026, at First Baptist Church at 11:00 AM. Bro. Fred Eakes, Dr. Randy Bain, and Bro. Milton Whatley will officiate. A private graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery. Seven Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Binnie was a man whose life was defined by faith, love, patience, generosity, and a deep commitment to serving others. He was the kind of man who made the world a better place simply by being in it. To those who knew and loved him, he was the most patient, loving, caring, and giving Christian man they had ever known—a true example of Christ’s love lived out each day.

Mr. Binnie’s journey was one of hard work, dedication, and faith. Before beginning his career in pharmacy, he started out working as a mechanic at Elmer Stone’s garage. It was there, through honest work and determination, that he saved his money to purchase an engagement ring for Jo, the woman who would become his beloved bride. That simple but meaningful beginning reflected the man he was: hardworking, devoted, and willing to give of himself for the people he loved.

Mr. Binnie went on to attend the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, graduating in 1962. As a third-generation pharmacist at Turnage Drug Store, he carried on a family tradition of caring for others through his profession. His work was more than a career; it was another way to serve his community, offer a helping hand, and make a difference in the lives of those around him.

Mr. Binnie’s love for his community extended well beyond the pharmacy. In 1959, he walked the Blue Devil's sideline serving as their statistician. He continued in this role for approximately 40 years, becoming a familiar and cherished presence on the sidelines. His dedication reflected the loyalty, commitment, and love for his community that characterized so much of his life.

His Christian faith was the foundation upon which he built his life. A lifetime member of First Methodist Church, Mr. Binnie faithfully served on numerous committees and in many capacities throughout the years. His commitment to his church was not simply a matter of membership; it was a lifelong devotion to serving God and others. He lived his faith through his actions, treating everyone with kindness, compassion, and understanding. His patience seemed endless, his heart was generous, and he gave freely of his time, talents, and resources without expecting anything in return.

Mr. Binnie’s servant’s heart led him to become involved in numerous civic and community organizations. He served with the Jaycees and the Water Valley Chamber of Commerce, served on the school board and the Mississippi Children’s Board, and participated in prison ministry. Through these commitments, he demonstrated his belief that every person mattered and that each of us has a responsibility to make our community and our world a better place.

One of the great passions of Mr. Binnie’s life was mission work. He participated in numerous mission trips and led many trips to Nicaragua, sharing the love of Christ with people beyond his own community. His willingness to serve, encourage, and help those in need reflected a faith that reached far beyond words. He was willing to go where he was needed, offer a helping hand, and bring hope to others. Through his mission work, he touched lives, built connections, and left a lasting impression on those he served.

Those who knew Mr. Binnie will remember his gentle spirit, his servant’s heart, and the quiet, steadfast way he loved others. He did not simply speak of Christian values—he embodied them. Whether serving behind the pharmacy counter, standing on the football sidelines, working through his church, serving his community, ministering to those in prison, or leading mission trips abroad, he approached every responsibility with humility, dedication, and love.

Though his presence will be deeply missed, the legacy Mr. Binnie leaves behind is one that will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, church family, community, and the countless people whose lives were touched by his kindness and ministry.

Mr. Binnie lived a life of purpose, guided by his faith and marked by a love that reached far beyond himself. His earthly journey may have come to an end, but the seeds of faith, compassion, and generosity he planted will continue to grow for generations to come.

His life reminds us that the greatest legacy we can leave is not what we accumulate, but the love we give, the lives we touch, and the faith we share.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Mr. Binnie lived his life as a beautiful reflection of the love of Christ. He will be remembered with gratitude, cherished with love, and missed more than words can express. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and in the example he set for all who were blessed to know him.

Mr. Binnie is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Jeanette "Jo" Turnage; children, Robert "Bobby" Turnage (Monica), Baine Turnage (Vicki), Dawn Edwards (Steve), and Cora Lynn Ray; grandchildren, Hunter Edwards, Taylor Edwards, Erick Turnage, Karen Turnage, Max Kimbrough, Marshall Ray and Parker Turnage; great-grandchildren Sloan, Hazel, Naomi and Celia Edwards; and his brother Robert Turnage.

Mr. Binnie was preceded in death by his daughter, Nina Karen Turnage; parents, Wade and Catherine Baine Turnage; and his sister, Ethelyne Lingle.

In lieu of flowers, brother Binnie's request is to have donations made to St. Jude HERE or First Methodist Church at the following address: 603 N Main St, Water Valley, MS 38965.

Robert Glynn "Bob" Brooks

Robert Glynn “Bob” Brooks, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 2, 2026, in Oxford, MS.

Bob attended school in Water Valley and continued his education at Mississippi State University graduating with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps (active and reserves), retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after a distinguished military career.

Once he completed his education and active-duty obligations, Bob entered the corporate world starting with Prudential, arranging agriculture loans. This launched Bob’s career in banking and lending, working primarily in construction lending for several national banking firms in Houston, TX.

After his retirement, Bob and Pat returned to Water Valley in 2004. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Water Valley, where he taught Dr. Paul Odom’s Men’s Sunday School Class. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, golfing occasionally and preparing his Sunday school lesson. He spent a lot of time on construction projects around the house and helping out others on the Brooks family farm.

Bob is survived by his wife Pat Brooks of Water Valley, MS; children, Carla (Lee) Gabel of Plano, TX and Jennifer (Dusty) Moore of Dallas, TX; granddaughter Alayna Moore of Dallas, TX; brother, Travis (Amy) Brooks of Water Valley, MS. In addition, Bob is remembered by his nieces and nephews, many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Emmett and Eva Jordan Brooks; siblings, Eva Frances Fultz, Billie Brooks Terrell, Currie Brooks and Frank Berle Brooks; and his nephew Brad Brooks.

Bob was a faithful, determined and dutiful man whose motto was, “anything worth doing, should be done right.” This is a reflection of the way he approached both his responsibilities and his life.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, with the funeral service immediately following at 1:00 PM, all at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Dr. Randy Bain will officiate. Pallbearers are Heath Brooks, Justin Brooks, Brandon Brooks, Jordan Hodge, Eli Hodge and Lee Gabel. Nephews Daryl Fultz, Steve Fultz, Greg Terrell and Austin Hodge will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Seven Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Mr. Robert Glynn Brooks can be made to First Baptist Church (800 North Main Street, Water Valley, MS 38965) or the Friends of Oak Hill Cemetery (111 Industrial Park Road, Water Valley, MS 38965).

Montgomery Young "Monte" Terrell, Jr.

Montgomery Young Terrell, Jr., went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 2, 2026, at his home in Water Valley, MS. He was born December 23, 1932, in Sardis, MS, to Montgomery Young Terrell, Sr., and Ola Jewel Taylor Terrell.

Monte was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Fayne Brooks Terrell, his father, Montgomery Young Terrell Sr., his mother Ola Jewel Taylor Terrell, and his sister, Imogene Terrell Wright.

After graduating high school he moved to Memphis, TN, where he worked as a shoe salesman. Monte joined the United States Air Force on March 18, 1952. He married his wife, Billie Fayne Brooks Terrell, on December 24, 1952. They were stationed in Tucson, AZ, where he served as an airplane mechanic. He was honorably discharged on March 19, 1956, and moved to Memphis, TN, where he began work at Memphis Light and Water. His department was transferred to the City of Memphis in 1980 and he retired after 30 years of service.

After retiring, he and Billie moved to Water Valley, MS, to fulfill his lifelong dream of being a cattle farmer. A true steward of the land, he spent his time tending to his cattle herd and working his land. Some of his best moments were spent on a tractor baling hay. As a dedicated cattle farmer, he understood the value of an honest day’s work, from early mornings feedings to the long summer days of baling hay, to the cold, cold days of winter and those late evening feedings. To him a perfect day was a field of well-cured hay, a healthy herd of cattle and a carport full of family.

He was an avid gardener that loved growing tomatoes, okra and watermelons. In later years he would sit in the carport gazing at his garden and say there wasn’t a better sight than tomatoes on the vine and cattle in the pasture.

He has left a legacy of hard work, green pastures, and a family that loved him more than anything. He often said, the days spent in Water Valley were the best days of his life.

Monte was a 60 year life member of Mason Lodge # 95 in Memphis, TN. He was also a member of the Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association and the American Gelbvieh Association.

He was known by many names; Montgomery by people who didn’t know him, M.Y. or Monte to friends, but his most cherished name was Daddy and Pop.

Monte and his wife Billie celebrated 68 years together. He leaves behind his daughters, Cheryl (Puddin) Terrell Harmon (Tommy), Pamela Terrell Rote (Martin) and his son, Gregory Brooks Terrell; four Grandchildren, Thomas Matthew Harmon (Lana), Allison Harmon Hughes (Rob), Gregory Caleb Terrell (Kacey) and Colby Clinton Terrell (Charla). He also leaves seven great grandchildren, Lillian Iris Hughes (Allison), Pierce Thomas Hughes (Allison), Hilton Emery Harmon (Matthew), Montgomery Grace Terrell (Caleb), Bryson Hayes Terrell (Caleb), Olivia Jade Terrell (Caleb) and Jaxson Cade Terrell (Colby).

The family would like to recognize the following:

Mrs. Debbie Prestage-- There are no words to convey how much the calm presence, patience, and tender care that you provided means to our family. Your kindness brought so much comfort to our family during this difficult time.

Accent Care of Grenada, specifically Theresa, Chance, and Cannon who took such good care of Monte. Also, Alicia and Telecia that provided his hospice care.

Internal Medicine Associates of Oxford, specifically Dr. Jeffry Dennis who personally called to check on Monte numerous times.

Lott’s of Care, LLC –Ms. Sandy Nix and her staff of Anna and Nicole for providing such kind and loving care.

A very special thanks to Lynn Walker who religiously visited and called Monte and his wife Susie Walker for all the delicious food and goodies she sent, especially for her out of this world soup and chicken and dumplings that Monte loved.

Finally, to all family and friends who prayed, called, visited and provided food during his illness we want to express our sincere thanks.
