Meet my TWO newest friends! That’s right, TWO. One little dude staring intently outside at the beautiful view, and one jealous orange tabby creating a little drama along the bottom of the image. 😹

I’ve been feeling a little rusty in post, and forcing myself outside of my comfort zone while updating all sorts of techniques and processes. It’s so exciting to have such a great little muse to work with while I do! 🫶

I don't typically offer newborn photography but I jumped at the chance to try something different with a family that trusts my process, and has been so incredibly patient while I navigate that pesky Law of Murphy. I'm still deep in the editing process but I couldn't resist a share.

Who doesn't love a fresh set of tiny fingers & toes? 😍

Setting up the mobile studio for high school senior yearbook portraits!

I will say that I prefer working outdoors in natural light but I’m excited to be in a different environment to meet those very specific yearbook photo demands.

While my usual offerings on this page are about digital photography, I love creating beyond the camera. I am hoping to get started on a mural project right in the center of my city with a design that can *almost* be seen here. I can’t wait to reveal the final design!

What are your favorite ways to create?

Tip Number 5:

"Crop. When you’re shooting, try to fill your space. If I set up a shot for food or beer, I’ll probably use a table. It’s likely you won’t see the full table top, you certainly won’t see the legs, floor, dust bunnies on the ceiling lamp, or other unimportant elements. If you miss this element during the shot, consider a quick crop to edit out the junk."

It's time for tip number 4:

"Focus and Depth of Field. Sometimes you want the whole scene. Maybe it’s a big view of the Adirondacks and you just want the whole scene in focus. But if you’re branding, the odds are you’re trying to make something specific stand out. You can do this with focus. Pull your subject closer to you and your camera or device to separate it from the background, and focus on just that part of your image. This will softly blur what’s happening in the background. This naturally separates the subject from the background, and attracts the eye. Focus is key for a clear shot- don’t be afraid to work with your environment to steady your hand if you need it. I’m constantly using the back of a chair, leaning on a wall, or propping my hands with whatever is within a quick reach. And until you’ve got the confidence, don't be afraid to capture a several images to give yourself a few options.

Image from Flashback Brewing Company with filled pint glass taking up half the frame, close to the viewer and in focus. Background is more distant and softly blurred.
