Here are some tips for cleaning and lubricating shears and clipper:
Clean the blades
Before cutting hair, remove any hair and debris from the blades. You can use a brush or toothbrush to remove loose hair and debris from the blades and housing. You can also use a blade wash to disinfect the blades and remove dirt and hair. To use a blade wash, put some in a dish, brush off excess hair, and submerge the blades. Turn the clippers on for 10–30 seconds, then wipe off any excess oil with a clean cloth
Use blade wash
Put some blade wash in a dish and submerge the blades, being careful not to submerge any other parts of the clippers. Turn on the clippers for 10–30 seconds to help remove dirt and hair from the blades. Blade wash can also help disinfect the blades.
Use isopropyl alcohol
After unplugging the clippers, remove any attachments and brush the trimmer. Then, pour a small amount of 70% isopropyl alcohol into a shallow bowl or container. Turn on the clippers, let them run, and carefully dip the blades into the alcohol. You can also pour isopropyl alcohol over the teeth of the clippers, making sure it doesn't get into the electrical compartment. After dipping or pouring, dry the blades with a clean cloth or soft towel.
Apply clipper oil
Apply a few drops of clipper oil to the blades to lubricate and clean them. You can also use a clipper spray, which leaves a thin film of lubricant that reduces friction and keeps blades sharp. After applying oil, turn on the clippers briefly to distribute the oil evenly across the blades. Then, wipe off any excess oil with a clean cloth or kitchen roll.
Oil blades overnight
Oiling your blades overnight can help prevent rust, which can degrade blades quickly and make them unsafe or ineffective to use. Rust can also affect the structural integrity of the blades, making them less sharp.
