Another year in the books! The Watervliet PBA, Watervliet Professional Firefighters Local 590, Watervliet City School District, and countless City of Watervliet volunteers joined forces to deliver meals to residents in need. We are truly grateful and honored to be part of such a caring community. Today marks the second anniversary of the passing of our beloved colleague and friend, Lieutenant Marc Langlais. As we gather once again to honor his memory, we find ourselves reflecting more deeply on the profound void his absence has left in our department, our community, and in the hearts of all who knew him.
Two years have passed, yet Lieutenant Langlais's presence remains alive in the halls of our department and the streets of our city. His legacy as a dedicated law enforcement officer continues to guide us, while his example as a devoted family man reminds us of what truly matters in life. Marc's unwavering commitment to his loved ones was the foundation that supported his exceptional service to others.
The impact of Marc's contributions to our department continues to resonate. The initiatives he championed, the mentorship he provided, and the standards he upheld have become woven into the fabric of our organization. His leadership, dedication, and expertise weren't merely professional qualities—they were expressions of who he was as a person.
Throughout Watervliet, Lieutenant Langlais is remembered not only for his service but for the unique personality that brightened our days. His quick wit would test the best of us, while his quirky sense of humor left lasting impressions on everyone he met. When Equinox was unable to provide meals this year, the Watervliet community truly stepped up. The Watervliet PBA, Watervliet Professional Firefighters Local 590, Watervliet City School District, and numerous City of Watervliet volunteers united to provide nearly 300 meals to residents in need. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making this possible!

On Friday, May 10, 2024 members of the Watervliet PBA were honored to unveil a memorial plaque dedicated to Lieutenant Marc Langlais in accompany with Marc’s family. It has been just over one year since the devastating loss of our brother Marc and he will be forever greatly missed. Our membership graciously revived the front landscaping in front of the PD weeks prior in preparation for placing this special memorial plaque. We would like to extend much appreciation to the members of the Watervliet Department of Public Works, Stripes The Sign Shop and Warren W. Fane, Inc., for their selfless support helping us make this happen.
