A story: My Dad Rick Wolfe of Watsontown Glass Co. made this many years ago as a gift for my Great Grandmother Mimi.
I recall it hanging in her stairway in West Milton - It obscured the view a bit and cast light and rainbows on the landing.
Other than being a handmade gift by her talented grandson in law, it was so special because it is a call back to her childhood home outside of Cedar Run, PA (Beulah Land) When Mimi was little (early 1900’s) her family lived in her Grandfathers home, and she remembered that the house was big and had a stained glass window in the stairway. Think victorian era logging swagger.
Tragedy ensued - her Dad was killed by rattlesnake bite, and her Mom and youngest sister were killed a short time later by illness, leaving the remaining children to band together and raise each other.
Mimi (Mary Yordy) went on to become a nurse - studying at Mt. Sinai in NYC, and working at Muncy Hospital, where her Grandson and Great Granddaughter practice medicine today!
Mimi was incredibly proud of her 3 children, and Grandchildren. I was the first great grandchild. Though she didn’t get to meet the rest, I know she’d be delighted and so proud to know all the wonderful ways her legacy has lived on!
