This week I got a call from a homeowner on the East side of Erie who had a bad feeling about the roofer they had hired. They asked if I would take a look at the roof before the roofer finished the job. This picture pretty much says it all.
The roof that was being put on this home was not right. The roofer had installed OSB to replace the rotten fascia, absolutely NO ice and water shield, NO starter shingles and several other issues. All things that the homeowner couldn't see once the shingles were installed. This was certainly not what they told the them they were going to do on their proposal. This roofer thought he could get one over on a homeowner who didn't know any better.
Unfortunately there are contractor out there that do things like this everyday. As a homeowner you put your trust in the contractor you hire to provide you with the products and services you are paying for. Our inspection of this roof saved them not only the money they were going to pay the roofer but the cost of the repairs when they found out it was leaking months down the road.
