Today, I’m celebrating the travel advisors who show up with heart, curiosity, professionalism, and care.
🤍 The ones learning a new supplier platform after a full day of client work.
🤍 The ones rewriting an email three times because they want the tone to feel just right.
🤍 The ones calming nervous travelers, celebrating excited ones, and helping overwhelmed clients turn scattered ideas into an actual plan.
🤍 The ones who are building businesses, developing confidence, learning how to market themselves, navigating hard conversations, and continuing to grow even when the path feels messy.

This work is meaningful. It is detailed. It is emotional. It is strategic. It is service-centered. And it is so much more than “booking trips.”

To the travel advisors out there doing the behind-the-scenes work, continuing to learn, and showing up for your clients with care:

At Develop the Magic, I believe better travel advising begins with deeper understanding. That’s one reason I’m glad to see the IGLTA Foundation and International Experience Canada highlighting the experiences of 2SLGBTQIA+ young adults in international work and travel.

For many young adults, these experiences are about so much more than tourism. They can be tied to identity exploration, confidence, connection, career growth, and expanded opportunity. They can also come with barriers that deserve more visibility and more thoughtful support.

This kind of research matters because it helps our industry move beyond good intentions and toward more informed, human-centered action.

Develop the Magic is updating our LGBTQ+ traveler education module for travel advisors and agencies, and we’re collecting anonymous input from LGBTQ+ travelers (and supportive allies) to help shape the update.

We’re especially looking for insight on:
-what advisor support feels genuinely helpful
-what missteps to avoid
-privacy, communication, and safety-aware planning concerns that matter in real life
