If you’ve used a Develop the Magic resource, attended a session, or found value in the support shared here, I’d be so grateful for a quick Facebook review. Your feedback helps other agency owners know whether these resources may be a good fit for them, too.

You can also leave a testimonial (aka love note) on the website too!

It’s Friday, friends. Time to gently set down the business cloak for a bit.

The emails, the tasks, the follow-ups, the ideas, the strategy, the “I should probably…” list; they can all have their place.

But so can joy. As well as rest, laughter, being outside, reading a book, taking a walk, a family moment, or a whole lot of nothing.

We spend so much time helping other people create meaningful experiences. Let’s remember we’re allowed to have them too.

This weekend, I hope you find a little pocket of joy that has absolutely nothing to do with productivity. No earning it, no optimizing it, no turning it into content. Just joy.

Happy Friday. Go be a human for a while.

❓What skill do you think separates a good advisor from a great one?❓

Comment below and let's discuss!

Agency owners, what kind of resource would help your team most right now? Or perhaps, would help you most right now?

07/13/2026

There are different agency models in the travel industry. And honestly? That’s okay.

Some agencies are very hands-off. Some are highly collaborative. Some focus heavily on training and mentorship. Some expect advisors to be more self-led from the beginning. Some are built around community. Some are built more around tools, access, and supplier relationships.

Different models can exist, but what I think matters is clarity.

As an agency owner, you get to decide how you want to operate your business. You get to choose your values, your processes, your level of support, your expectations, your standards, and the kind of culture you want to build.

And yes , I’m always going to advocate for staying within the law, honoring independent contractor boundaries, and doing business ethically.

But beyond the legal side, I also think owners need to ask: What does “doing good business” look like here?

Because the choices we make as agency owners impact other people.
-They impact the advisors who join us.
-They impact the clients those advisors serve.
-They impact team culture.
-They impact trust.
-They impact the reputation of our industry.

Not every agency is the right fit for every advisor. And not every advisor is the right fit for every agency. That doesn’t automatically make either side bad.

It means we need to be clear. Clear about what kind of agency we’re building, what support looks like, what advisors are responsible for, what success requires, and clear about what we value and what we will not compromise.

If you want to run a more hands-off agency model, own that. If you want to serve more as a guide, coach, or mentor, own that too.

But know your style. Know your flavor. Know your expectations.

And before you bring advisors into your business, ask yourself: Am I ready to lead, support, and communicate clearly within the model I’ve chosen?

Because good business is not just about growth; it’s about intention.💙

Tough question for agency owners:

Is your onboarding really preparing advisors to sell, serve, and grow, or is it mostly teaching them where to find things?

Look, I know they do need to know where to find things. They need the tools, systems, supplier info, processes, policies, expectations, and all the other “here’s how we do things around here” pieces. But onboarding also needs to help advisors build judgment.

Because at some point, they’re going to need to know how to ask better questions, qualify a client, communicate clearly, manage expectations, notice a red flag, follow through, and build trust.

That doesn’t happen just because someone watched a training video or found the right link in a resource library. Information helps advisors get started. Development helps advisors become professionals.

So I’m curious: Where do you feel strongest in your onboarding right now -- giving information, developing advisor skills, or a little bit of both?

Develop the Magic has been a little quiet over here lately, but definitely not gone.

The honest truth? I’ve been in a season of doing some internal work, rethinking a few things, and making updates behind the scenes in my travel agency. And while that has been important and needed, it also pulled me out of creative mode for Develop the Magic for a bit.

But I’m still here. And I’m still thinking a lot about what travel agency owners and advisors need right now.
-More clarity.
-More confidence.
-More sustainable systems.
-More human-centered leadership.
-More support that actually helps people grow.

Develop the Magic exists to help agency owners train, support, and empower their advisor teams with more intention; without having to build every piece from scratch.

So I’m easing back into the conversation. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing questions, ideas, resources, and food for thought around onboarding, advisor development, leadership, client care, emotional intelligence, inclusivity, and sustainable growth.

Because I still believe this deeply:
💚We don’t have to choose between professionalism and humanity.
💙We can build travel businesses that are clear, capable, kind, and strong.

Happy National Travel Advisor Day ✨

Today, I’m celebrating the travel advisors who show up with heart, curiosity, professionalism, and care.
🤍 The ones learning a new supplier platform after a full day of client work.
🤍 The ones rewriting an email three times because they want the tone to feel just right.
🤍 The ones calming nervous travelers, celebrating excited ones, and helping overwhelmed clients turn scattered ideas into an actual plan.
🤍 The ones who are building businesses, developing confidence, learning how to market themselves, navigating hard conversations, and continuing to grow even when the path feels messy.

This work is meaningful. It is detailed. It is emotional. It is strategic. It is service-centered. And it is so much more than “booking trips.”

To the travel advisors out there doing the behind-the-scenes work, continuing to learn, and showing up for your clients with care:

You matter. Your work matters. And the way you help people experience the world, connect with each other, and create memories matters.

Cheering you on today and always. ✨
