Did anyone get caught driving in that hailstorm last week? š¬
When visibility is limited, even a routine drive can become stressful! It's hard to feel confident about where you're going when you can't clearly see the road ahead.
And the same is true when it comes to your business finances.
If you want to see the financial road to your business goals...
.. you're going to need to clear your "financial windshield" with good bookkeeping. š
For example, letās say that:
āļø You havenāt reconciled your bank and credit card accounts in months.
āļø You havenāt checked your A/R aging report inā¦. well, a while.
ā And sometimes (OK, a lot of the time) you put business expenses on your personal card, and vice versa.
From a bookkeeping perspective, those are all things that āfog upā your financial windshield:
š¤ You canāt run accurate financial reportsā not even to check if you made a profit.
š§ You may have outstanding unpaid invoices from your clientsā and ultimately lose the payments you deserve.
š¬ And not only does comingling your accounts cause time-consuming difficulties and confusion, itās dangerous from a tax perspective... and just a big fat financial no-no.
However, when you have up-to-date and accurate bookkeeping (that nice, clear financial windshield) you can:
āļø See exactly where your business is at, and if itās heading in a good direction.
āļø Plan a route to where you want to go in the future, because you know exactly where you are right now.
āļø And, with a clear sunny view through your financial windshield, the journey will be much easier and less stressful. š
After all, it's a lot easier to reach your destination when you can clearly see the road ahead. ššļø
