Putting a ladder in the attic to get up to the attic is next level stuff. Crawling through that opening to make sure the customer is happy with their radon system install is just regular Abatron stuff. 🤘

It’s that time of year! When we hit single digit and sub zero temperatures for multiple days in a row, radon systems have the potential of freezing up due to the massive amounts of moisture they exhaust. Newer exterior installed systems have a bypass just above the radon fan so homeowners can spin the cap out of the bypass if their exhaust pipe freezes up. If you don’t have a bypass or you don’t notice your system has froze up; don’t worry! The radon system will thaw itself out once temps reach 15-20 degrees.

Home Depot in Wausau now has electronic radon testers! These are nice compared to traditional test kits because they give you a constant digital readout of radon levels at all times throughout the year as radon levels do fluctuate. This is a good price compared to online and this brand has proven to be pretty accurate for homeowner use. Pick one up and start testing your home today! DIY radon test kits are also available at most hardware stores for around $15 and at the Marathon County Health Department for around $10.

I had the pleasure of working on the D.C. Everest House these past couple weeks to mitigate a radon situation they were having. It took a little bit of work and A LOT of diagnostics to get this one figured out, but in the end the radon levels were near perfect. Thank you to the new homeowners for letting me work my magic!
