🚒🔥 A BIG THANK YOU FROM WAVERLY FIRE RESCUE! 🔥🚒

The Waverly Fire Department Fire Prevention Team would like to send out a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported our Fire Prevention event on Sunday! ❤️

We hope everyone had a great time and, most importantly, learned something from our live burn demonstration. Seeing how quickly a fire can grow is a powerful reminder of why the little things we do at home can make such a big difference.

🚪 CLOSE THE DOOR BEFORE YOU DOZE!
Closing your bedroom door before going to sleep can help slow the spread of fire and smoke and may give you valuable extra time to get out safely.

🔋 LITHIUM BATTERY SAFETY
• Always use the correct charger for your device.
• Follow the manufacturer's charging instructions.
• Never ignore damaged or swollen batteries.
• Charge batteries in a safe location and avoid charging while sleeping.

🚨 CHECK YOUR SMOKE DETECTORS!
Make sure your smoke detectors are working, test them regularly, and replace the batteries when needed. Remember, working smoke alarms save lives!

🏫 WE'RE HEADING TO THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS!

This week, our Fire Prevention Team will be visiting our local elementary schools to talk with students about the same important topics — lithium battery safety and closing bedroom doors at night.

Students will be bringing homework home, so parents, please take a few minutes to sit down with your child and talk about:

🏠 Your family's meeting place in case of a fire
🚪 Why they should close their bedroom door before going to sleep
🚨 Checking, testing, and changing the batteries in your smoke detectors
🔋 Safe charging and use of lithium batteries

📝 4TH GRADERS — DON'T FORGET YOUR ESSAY!

Please make sure you complete your fire safety essay. The Fire Prevention Team will be picking up the essays on Friday, October 9th.

Thank you again to everyone who came out Sunday and helped make our Fire Prevention event a success!

Stay safe, stay fire-smart, and remember:

🚪 CLOSE THE DOOR BEFORE YOU DOZE! 🚪
