Another commissioned quilt for a customer who wanted something for his getaway cabin in the mountains. This is a California King size meshing panels with some flying geese and "bearclaw" blocks. I really wanted to keep it for myself but alas, he was very keen on taking it off my hands. Oh well. R

There was once a lady who worked at the "Life Is Good" tshirt factory and had accumulated over a hundred of the quirky slogans. She found me and learned of my ability to transformed garments into memorable quilts. Turned out to be a king size.... I thought turned out very nice and nostalgic.

Warning: Graphic (though there is worse on tv now a days...). Note: SPM is short for Stitches Per Minute, many ranging from 600 to 1,500 spm. That is fast; way faster than our brain to realize we have been assaulted by a needle and must retreat! This is not my finger, but I was the medic summoned to assist in removing said offender (but not before I took pictures - what a champ!). She was lucky enough the needle was a clean puncture and not through the nail. What can we take away from this example? 1) Respect your machine's needle space - it has no emotion and only does what it is intended. 2) Frequent rest breaks suggested and 3) Keep a med kit nearby. Sewing can be a relaxing therapy but also dangerous! R

What do you do with scraps of fabric? I had a lot of kids' fabric and an idea occured (yes, not many...). What if you were in charge of getting your toddler to sleep (afternoon naps or evening)? Every played "I Spy"? I created the quilt with that in mind. Find something on the quilt and "I spy a tiger.....". Kid searches .... and eventually drifts off. It has a nice soft Cuddle fabric backing. It won in a quilt show in Colorado August 2022.

It is with sadness and joy that our seamstress/alterations specialist will no longer be coming up from Hohenwald on Tuesdays to work. She has opened her own store there called "Strength & Dignity" on 72 S. Main Street and obviously is very busy. It amazes me (sometimes) how "sewing physics" evolve and in this case "revolve". A multitude of thread missed the intended target (let's say bobbin here) and wrapped itself quite nicely around the spindle. Though quite impressive I did have to remove said thread and discarded into the dish. I provide the last picture to remind everyone this is how your bobbin winder should look prior to winding. Tada!
