A leaking gas line is never something to put off, even when it is outdoors. 🔥

The damaged line in this video supplied an outdoor gas grill at a home in Waxhaw, North Carolina. It had become badly cracked and deteriorated from age and exposure to the elements.

If the homeowner had continued using the grill, gas could have escaped near the flame or another ignition source. That creates the risk of a sudden fire, serious burns, property damage, or even an explosion.

Thankfully, the homeowner called before something much worse happened.

Warning signs of a possible gas line problem can include:
• A rotten egg or sulfur-like smell
• A hissing sound near a gas line or appliance
• Cracked, corroded, or visibly damaged connections
• Outdoor gas appliances that are not working properly

So, if you smell gas or suspect an active leak, leave the area immediately and call your gas utility from a safe location. Could also be a time to have 911 looped in too.

If an outdoor grill connection or another gas line around your home looks worn or damaged, have it professionally inspected before using it again.
